I understand when the board and CEO disagree the CEO is the one that walks. I also understand that if the board and Bell were manoeuvring for months behind the CEO's back that he would walk immediately. So when those who have power focus on removing the others with power then it smells like a power play to me. Bell and the Board need this to work, or they will (or should) be the next out the door.

If they were planning this for months, why not wait one more week to discuss with Rosich? In my opinion the answer is those in power wanted more power and they choice the time to act to ensure they could get it. As Paracleet said, it might turn out to be right.

Board are responsible to the stake/share holders, who have the ultimate power. In this case the WAFC, whose priority is making money for WAFC and not Freo.

I listened, just the usual from Brad. Apparently they (presumably Brad and Hack) know who leaked about the Suma failed interview but won’t say, typical of the way these two operate. Pretend they are in the know, but just guessing really.

The only person who rang in was a West Coast flog who wanted to give a reach around to Brad.

Funny thing is that if you went onto the West Coast board I doubt they actually think anything different about 6PR.

I have never gone on there but in the real world my West Coast supporting mates all think Crumpet Face and Fanta Pants are as shite as we all do on here.

In this analogy I am disagreeing with people that have done some research or have some form of evidence to back up there claim. My claim is that I haven’t seen there evidence therefore it can’t be true. But If I bothered to do a little bit of research I would realise my claim is wrong.

This is correct. It's all politics. The idea that Lyon 'wouldn't have been renewed no matter what' is laughable. If we'd gone 14 and 8 next year they'd have had to have. Or this year for that matter.
The Bell and the faction of the board that backs him (which presumably includes the president) acted how and when they did to consolidate their position.
This doesn't mean it won't turn out to be the right decision, but given it's driven partly by personal interests rather than purely club interests we have to accept those additional risks.

sorta like the battle between the insiders and outsiders...if you know what I mean Rosich Lyon and dare I say Sumich = outsiders. Insiders Alcock, Bell, Longy, Mann and O'Reilly. If it comes off all good if it does'nt there will be a clean out again

It’s amusing that in this thread, quite a few have mentioned Freos lack of casting a wide net in seeking its next coach.

Just because only 5 or 6 presented for the job, that we know of, doesn’t mean that Bell & co didn’t contact every current assistant & possible candidate in the country.

8 candidates out of 10 would rule out the job just because of our location & don’t want to uproot the family, they are content doing what they’re doing, don’t want the pressure of being a head coach or just don’t like our list.

Even if Jlo was always the preferred candidate, there was a lot of time before he had finished his coaching commitments at Collingwood to contact the rest of the country, even Clarko.
