Also turned Redden from a complete spud the year before into and B grader.
Whether that was due to Mitchell’s influence who knows but reddens game did very much elevate to quite a high level in 2018.
Was a big reason behind their (at the time) average midfield dominating much more highly fancied ones , particularly during the finals

It was about opportunity as Priddis retired at the end of 17, Redden wasnt playing much inside mid & was pretty awful. Looks like a right dickhead to.

Here we go again 🙄
To save 50 pages on this , no way Clarko slips through the net while we wait a year or 2 to see how JLo turns out . Right now I think everyone is thinking JLo is tracking right where he should be ( players letting him down a bit more than his coaching) so there would be no need to be looking for another coach .
Not to mention the instability message it sends rolling over 3 coaches in 3 years .
If he was to come in a mentor type role then bring him in but if he wants to stay as head coach it would be Carlton, Gold Coast , Collingwood first .

It depends.

If we start well in 2022 J-Lo gets an extension.

If we're say 4-7 half way through next season the club has to have the conversation with Clarkson.

I maintain he’ll be signed up either already or by end of this year .
May not be announced to the public till the end of 2023 when he’s finished his Hawks Contract but there’s no way those big clubs aren’t throwing the farm at him as we speak .
If he wants a basket case project then the AFL will get him to GC .
No way he’s sitting around waiting for a phone call from our shit**** club.

If we're talking to Clarkson next year that means 7 years without finals. That's the best time to take on a coaching gig with a list full of early picks who have done their 30-50 game apprenticeship.

If J-Lo doesn't get an extension we're an attractive proposition to Clarkson, Buckley, etc.

I’m hearing you but In my completely unqualified and un-knowledgeable opinion there’s no way the likes of Collingwood or Carlton aren’t going to grab him if available.
If he slips through that net then it will likely be GWS or GC
Not gonna happen 🙅‍♂️

Completely agree but as Madas said I don’t expect clarko to still be available- I’ll be gobsmsked if he doesn’t leave at the end of this year , it’s Malthouse/Buckley mk ll

Yeah that transition bullshit is 100% about getting ahead of any media and making sure they are in control of the narrative. Collingwood have played it well, they essentially gave Hawks a choice, Clarkson or Mitchell, they chose Mitchell and gave Clarkson the tap on the shoulder

1 bullet two kills!(providing the pies can now convince clarko to join them)

JL’s coaching in terms of strategy and game day is looking very solid.

His team selections on the other hand regularly have big head scratchers that show a lack of logic.

Bailey Banfield back this week?
Horrible move. Indefensible.
One of too many similar ones over his journey so far.

Not worth bagging him too much for it but shows an obvious area for future improvement.

Here is the logic that is escaping you. Serong moved off of the tagging role. Someone capable of sticking the tackles. 2 things that he has been slammed for in the forum.

I'm interested to see where they play him, I think he can have value as the tagger or medium forward

We've been able to turn Colyer into an actual legitimate AFL option and Blake hasn't baulked a contest so far this season from what I've seen, so it'll be very interesting if we've been able to make Bailey worthwhile at the level.

Reading this you'd think Bailey didn't have arms or something. He's no world beater but he's not that bad and has done well at Peel.

I think Longmuir has started his senior coaching career in one of the most difficult periods in modern times.

Last year COVID caused all the hubs etc. This year is starting to look the same.

There have been some bad losses, some good wins. I'm starting to like what I am seeing. Goal kicking has let us down, need to get that sorted.

He hasn't really had a "normal" season to prove himself. Still think he's done alright.

I hope we play him as a defensive midfielder. Doesn't have to be the hard tag (although he is good at that when needed). But just having someone playing that defensive, blocking role that allows the midfielders to attack whilst knowing that someone has got their back at the stoppage.

Our list management doesn't much choose.

I have been critical of him selecting a team lacking height in the forward line.

Seems not to rate Meek and prefer Banfield.
