Kayo stream quality

I’ve not had a fight as such with Kayo this year.

One weird thing though. My partner and I watch together but usually separately. He stays on the couch and I take the iPad outside if it is a good night. This is because otherwise we will both get pissed off at Melbourne but in different ways and try to strangle each other.

Weirdly though the ipad seems to get the game nearly two minutes in advance. And then of course I go woohoo at a goal and the surprise is robbed from my partner. So we try to strangle each other.

Take it to the BDSM board m9

Don’t be a tight wad, stop complaining and get foxtel.

The dish is good. The dish will set you free.
I read your post and did some research, so thanks. I’ve just cancelled my Kayo, going back to Foxtel, I’ve already got the dish and recently bought a new TV. And, there is currently a Foxtel Easter special, $54 month no set up cost. AFL and couple of other sports in 4K, sport HD & foxtel plus package. For $6 a week more. 👍👍

Comfortably the worst and most overpriced streaming platform in Australia. The Apple TV and iPhone apps regularly crash. Streams of varying quality regularly buffer, or shut down completely before an error message appears on the screen. The app is not intuitive either, and is difficult to navigate.
We are enjoying the fruits of concentration and a lack of competition in the Australian media landscape.

Delay is definitely a thing depending on how you watch.

I use the Kodi app to watch on my TV or pc & it is probably around 8 to 10 seconds ahead of kayos apps.

The one thing this year is the drop-outs, kodi app never used to freeze up, now it's happening once or twice a game. Quality is fine though.

For Christ sake ..doesn’t that alone cement your commonsense decision to switch to the dish ?

Pay the extra $20

Have one less $45 Japanese restaurant meal a week and it’s paid for ..in HD4k bliss..easy
I am a mere interloper in this thread, but you haven’t exactly answered my question. I can only assume that somehow Kayo are now taking shortcuts in the quality of the replays. They’ve doubled my fee from last year and you’re suggesting I need to nearly double it again to receive the same quality of service I received last year.

We should be beyond the dish but sadly Kayo seems to have issues every week. Boggles the mind.
Funny thing is I've been forced on to Foxtel via IP as I can't get the dish and it has worked flawlessly with 2 boxes even in 4k.

It would seem Foxtel don't really want Kayo to run smoothly for obvious reasons.

I considered moving to Kayo but it's really not worth it to save a few bucks. I only had HD and sport packages until a few months ago they gave me every channel for free but even still I barely ever deviate from the fox sports and espn channels. Plus it's a shit tonne better having the remote. Integrated Netflix and Disney apps is another bonus.

Long live the dish.

Why would they think that?

On Kayo's website they state "All content streamed in Kayo is available in a HD stream, provided you have the bandwidth."

Many customers have the bandwidth but Kayo aren't delivering their end of the bargain.
Interesting claim you make, perhaps its not as simple as you make it out to be.

No problems with Kayo here, plays HD very reliably. I've got about 4 chromecasts, including an old one, all seem fine. Kayo could be failing for you for a number of reasons:
1. the chromecast or whatever technology you're using just may not be powerful enough.
2. Poor wifi in your house, which could include contention, could be bottlenecking your Internet connection.
3. You may have an internet connection that is poor in quality - for example you may have a cheap provider who rams as many customers as they can into their pipe
4. Your Internet provider maybe using dodgy routing, for example you connection to the kayo endpoints may be getting routed via NZ
5. You may be using a vpn, pushing your traffic to be routed via the US or elsewhere, which will introduce huge latency issues.

Go to Speed Test - Telstra and do a speed test. For Full HD Kayo say you need a download speed of at least 7.5Mbps, I'd say 20Mbps is more realistic for various reasons - you may also be fighting for bandwidth at the times you are watching Kayo.

You can either try and troubleshoot, or you can just ignore it and get a full foxtel subscription

I’ve had this problem. Usual solution is play your AFL game of choice from live, switch it to another live sport such as NRL, then put it back to the AFL and it should be “live” (it’ll still be 10-15 seconds behind but that’s the best you’ll get). We shouldn’t have to do something stupid like that to fix a bug but it is what it is.

I've had nothing but problems with Kayo so far this season.

Couldn't login at all, constant mid-stream drop-outs and inferior picture quality are rendering this service as non-essential now.
I've had alot of drops in recent months, have to restart through the menu.

Android TV app on a Sony TV.

Nothing to do with my internet and internal hardware. Also on FTTP.

Never really has issues for years prior.

I have problems with the Kayo app on my LGTV buffers constantly, but watching it through AppleTV on the Kayo app is much better doesn’t buffer at all so I don’t know why but via the TV is not good. I find a Kayo app clunky and takes ages to get going if I could find a different way of watching AFL I would

I had issues with constant buffering on my LGTV using thier native app, I was streaming via Wifi and that was with FTTP at 100MBPs.

Ended up running an Ethernet cable from my NBN modem to the TV and hardwired it. (Helps that I’m a Sparkie). Has been flawless ever since. No dropouts, no buffering and damn good picture 🤷‍♂️

Honestly I don't know how Kayo gets away with its product with the ACCC. I watch via the PS4 app generally and whenever a new PS4 update is required, the Kayo app doesn't work anymore and they need the tech people at Kayo to work on fixing it to run on the updated PS4. How can they charge the amount of money they do and have these simple problems? Problems that are out of their control sure they can do nothing about, but design of their apps is definitely within their control

Yeah. Cracks me up foxtel you can't have 4k over the internet. Yet everyone does including FOXTEL on there new internet only IQ boxx

Sent from my motorola edge 30 pro using Tapatalk

Foxtel use the internet for 4k. You can run everything (with an IQ4 or IQ5) via the internet if you please (just unplug the satellite cables and reboot the box to go through the setup)
