Steve thomson went about it the wrong way only 40 touches and another 3 votes and meka didn,t try 7 goals.

Foxtrot dont go getting all emotional on us,did l mention meka NO he played well but last time l looked there is more then 1 forward and from where l stood a few didnt chase when they should .
Perhaps after your win last week l was expecting more hence the question re anyone missing, and on Steve Thomson a bloke with his talent should have got 40 against Avenel he is waisting his talent in the kdfl

Its a long season and no team is at their absolute best every week, it would be easy to see how Lancy would be below their best and down on intensity after what would have been a really big build up for the game against Stanhope. Although you want your team to get into good habits in the build up to the finals.
Agree on Thomson, hopefully he helps Lancy win a flag than gets back to GV footy.

Looking a the list that played sat they seemed to be missing Varcoe, B Busch, Daff their no 1 ruckman. I suppose with a dominant performance forwards will get complacent knowing the ball will be back in soon. However if true not a good habbit to get into.

S Thompson a quality player but doesn't every KDFL club have 2 or 3 players that are GVFL or better playing. Isn't this that what makes the KDFL a better comp.

can anyone tell me if or how many players lancaster were missing,l wasnt overly impressed a few of there forwards dont like to chase

and for my trifecta of posts having seen 5 lanky games this season
i would say eddy is the the best chaser and tackler i have seen, r busch is
reasonable, n casey is a worry, a nunn is still gainng fitness and playing a bit mid field T pyrde is young and chases and a meka is 15kgs overweight, slow but has the best hands and is a great kick from 50+ maybe doesn't have to chase

Just wondering if clubs have recieved their heritage jumpers yet and if a date has been set for this round again ?

I heard they (the clubs) had to pick them up from Melbourne, but as far as Murchison goes, no we haven't got ours yet, which is understandable as ours was the most intricate as far as the printing goes (I did a knock up of it on the Graphic Design page, it should be on Page Two now).

But, I'm not knocking the idea, I just think that those things should be left to the discretion of the clubs involved, and let them decide who they wear it against, Murchison's jumper (1895-1907), only make sense when it's worn against a side that Murchison played during that era that the jumper is supposed to represent, and for us that only leaves Nagambie or Rushworth.

Anyway, it's an idea worth doing but I think the KDFL needs to set a Heritage Round as soon as the draws done so that gives the clubs enough time to get the jumpers done.

The things that we've found out about the KDFL after the last round.

Murchison are a serious threat to snag a finals spot (we last made the finals in 2009, and in 2004 & 2005, in all 3 games we were beaten in the Elimination Finals), and having a spare ruckman (P. Frappel) and another forward (T. Durward) makes Murch a much better side now that Daniel Freeman doesn't have to carry the burden of Ruck duties all on his own, and having another target up forward never goes astray.

I think after that win, Murchison can (and will :))win the next two (against Nagambie & Undera), and then things will get REALLY INTERESTING.

I know the paper said "...bring on Lancaster", but even after their win, I can't see Violet Town beating Lancaster, but at home, they will get closer than most of the competition.

Tally's loss to Murchison and their low percentage, makes every game from here on out vital (the easy games for the %, the hard games for the 4 points), so it'll be interesting how they respond.

Undera, Stanhope (even after their loss to Violet Town and their injuries) and Rushworth are just rolling along nicely, they're still some improvement there, nothing out of the ordinary, but it's going along quite well from a distance.

Merrigum look like finishing without a win this season (and I hope to god they do it against Ardmona in the last round:thumbsu:), but it's hard to see that happening (although I hope it does;)), but they're still here and that a lot better than fading away !.

Nagambie have to make a move now and string some vital wins together because they're two games behind 6th placed Tallygaroopna, and have a tough game against Murchison Saturday.

And Ardmona, Avenel, Girgarre & Longwood need to look forward to 2012, (Ardmona & Avenel have good Under 18's sides so that gives them the biggest glimmer of hope for future success), and as far as Gig and the 'Legs go, Bob Marley said it best when he sung "Don't worry, about a thing, coz every little thing, is gonna be alright !" from "Three Little Birds".

Apart from Lancaster and the bottom few, 2-7 are pretty even, and I can't wait to see how it ends (hopefully with Murchison being there:thumbsu:).

Sportsbet Odds

Lancaster 1.40
Undera 6.50
Rushworth 7.50
Stanhope 11.00
Violet Town 11.00
Tallygaroopna 17.00
Murchison 21.00
Nagambie 67.00
Avenel 401.00
Ardmona 751.00
Girgarre 1,501.00
Longwood 2,501.00
Merrigum 10,001.00

What do they know about Undera that I don't?, Tally and Murch still good odds, as are Stanhope & VT seeing they are sitting with the double chance at the moment.

Well the race for the final 5 just gets more interesting every weekend, again the two toss of the coin games in the round went to the slight underdogs. Nagambie a side that I, and I think all had discounted for a finals spot kept there back to back aspirations alive with a win over Murch who were never a chance after a ordinary 1st 1/4. The other game Undera kept in touch with the Top 3 with a barnstorming finish to run over the top of Rushy.
So the Ladder sits at:
1 Lancaster 12 11 0 0 1 0 1681 396 424.49 48
2 Stanhope 11 8 2 0 1 0 1176 581 202.41 36
3 Violet Town 11 8 2 0 1 0 1149 673 170.73 36
4 Undera 11 7 3 0 1 0 1289 737 174.90 32
5 Tallygaroopna 11 7 3 0 1 0 1069 709 150.78 32
6 Rushworth 12 6 5 0 1 0 1230 662 185.80 28
7 Murchison 11 6 4 0 1 0 1123 712 157.72 28
8 Nagambie 11 5 5 0 1 0 1086 850 127.76 24

Sides sitting 2nd-5th have 5 of their last 8 games against sides in the bracket above, Rushworth only have 7 games left (due to playing Lancy before Rd1) and only 3 of them are against the top 8 sides, while Murch and Nagambie have 4 out of their 8 against the sides above them(both play Lancaster).

the rumour out of the avenel camp is the reason why avenel seconds forfeit today is because half the seconds side refused to play after the senoir coach abused them last week for being shit any truth to the rumour

did hear that showy, also noticed that a few clearences have gone through in the past two weeks amed, aldridge, loraine, williams and one of the boys who backed up for the seniors after playing ressies last week in ray cappuano.

Yeh, the tigers really hurt our chances of making finals yesterday. It was obviously a disappointing loss, especially since we only kicked 2 goals in the 2nd half and surrendered a half time lead for the 5th time this year. I thought the sides were pretty evenly matched for most of the day, but La Porta was clearly the difference up forward, and Breen did a great job in the ruck.

For us captain Tom Clarke did a great job down back, as did Sammy Nelson, but we had a lot of blokes down for the day.

Things will have to fall our way now - I'd imagine we'd have to win every game to even be a chance, as the top 4 are now settled.

Not sure its that doom and gloom Tav, reckon 11 wins might even get you in(5wins out of your 7), especially with your percentage, u don't have to play lancy and the 3 games you have against other contenders Murch, Stanhope & VT are all at home, so to win every game on the way home is very achievable.

Have heard a few rumors on what may happen next year l hope what l heard was wrong but lets sayAvenel has a power of work to do especially keeping its better players.

I work with a guy who's played a few in the Swannies two's this year and he hasn't mentioned anything like that. Mind you he was shattered Friday at work about forfeting and was even asking around if anyone at work would be keen to help out (he even asked me ha ha!!!) so that they could try and scrape up a team.

What kind of world are we living in when people aren't confident enough to talk to a member of the club executive or one of the captains if thing's aren't right? If you had any feeling for ya footy club ya just wouldn't whack in clearances before trying to work on a solution, jumping ship is the last straw not the first????? Having spent a year at Avenel when the two's were short there are some great people up there who work extremely hard behind the scenes, heres hoping they can sort all this out in a positive manner, Jobby surely talk like this must be killing the old Swan diehard's???

I thought Ray Capuano was the two's skipper up there this year too?

A lot of clubs go through it from time to time - my old mob Broady went thru it last year, didnt win a game in one's, two's or three's. The two's and three's have won a couple so far but yesty the seniors (sitting 2nd last at 2 & 7) kicked a total of one behind for the day so dont stress Swans fans there's always someone worse off.

yer it hurts Doona but l was thinking between Euroa Longwood Avenel Seymour and Broadford all senior sides have won 6 games out of 50odd not a good time for the highway clubs

Your not wrong jobby, Im probably not in a position to comment as a have not been around the club that long (started playing in 05) but it does hurt seeing the way the club is travelling at the moment.

These "better players" you speak of, have been very loyal sticking with the club during these lean periods, promised each year that it is going to turn around but nothing seems to happen. These better players have knocked back big money to go elsewhere, rather wanting to stay and play for a club they love.

Its a shame to see players jumping ship now at this stage of the year, especially when the club is really struggling and needs all the personnel it can. I understand they may have issues or problems but if there club related surely they can talk to the committee / coaches to try and work things out first (as doona pointed out ) At least then maybe a solution can be found. It is hard to satisfy everbody though.

Hopefully we can get through the year without to much damage, jag a couple of wins along the way and look forward to a better 2012 :thumbsu:

Thought I'd have a look at the run home for the sides seemingly battling it out for 5th spot. Whoever told me Tally had an easy run home was way off!

Tally - Stanhope, avenel, Gig, Lancaster, VT, Merrigum, bye, Saints, Undera

Rushy - Ardy, Bye, Murch, Longwood, Stanhope, Avenel, Gig, bye, VT

Murch - Undera, Ardy, Rushy, Bye, Longwood, Stanhope, Avenel, Gig, Lancy

Nagambie - Longwood, Stanhope, Avenel, Gig, Lancy, VT, Merrigum, Tally, bye

So, considering, like you said, we play Murch, Stanhope and VT at home, we possibly have the best run home?? There's some crunch matches there, that's for sure, and we probably won't know the make up until the last round.

Also, heard a rumour that Stanhope have made a play for Balraj Singh, now at Tocumwal... Any truth hank?
