Wasn't saying they're a flag threat, but from a quick look they appear to play the better ranked teams once so they might sneak into 5th which would be a huge progression and one they can build on in '08.
i'm with you doona. it will all depend on how the young blokes stand up against the top teams.
against violet town they were fantastic, but when the game was up for grabs 1/2 way through the last Q they made some critical mistakes. not blaming them, you cant expect a 17-18 yr old kid to make the right decision every time.
This will come with experience and if avenel can keep the group they have together and add a couple of quality players next year lookout.
as for this year it would be great to see them play finals but i won't be confident of that until they have played the likes of stanhope, ardmona and rushy.

Re: Kyabram District FL

Re: Kyabram District FL

Noticed that Yea has pulled the pin on their 2s game this week V Tally. Are things that bad down there now??

I remember that they were just an average KDL team, then when they went to CGFL they were quite dominant. I suppose the travel every 2nd week has kicked in??? Or is it something else?

Re: Kyabram District FL

Although I can only go on what I have seen myself, but when we played Yea over there in Round 3, there were as many Murchison supporters as there were Yea supporters, and considering that we don't have many people to begin with, this looked bad from a Yea point of view.

And according to the results, it seems that they can only get a decent Under 18's side during home games, and like Murch, they're struggling to get a reserves side as well.

Although I have a lot of sympathy for the club, (who were great host to us when we went to Yea), and the fact that they have been shunted around from league to league for decades now, you have to wonder if they made a mistake in going back to the KDFL ?.

Alexandra & Thornton/Eildon seem to be going O.K in the YVMDFL, and their Netball League has expanded to the extent that they could absorb all of Yea's Netball Teams, so the question has to asked, Will Yea come back to the YVMDFL ?.

I hope that this year is just a rough patch the club is going through, and although I would be in the minority here in saying that I hope that the Tigers stay in the KDFL, but, you have to wonder if the possibility of playing against Alexandra & Thornton/Eildon hasn't crossed their mind.

Re: Kyabram District FL

Just wondering how all the grounds held up on Saturday, we played at Ardy and it was a bog patch for bout 70% of the ground, which didnt help our very top heavy 2nds side;) .

Far out iwantanotherflag some serious study and time must have gone into that, do you get out much?? However i have to hand it to you thats a good post. I think Yea will do everything humanly possible to stay in the KDL because nobody likes playing on shitty grounds covered in snow.

Re: Kyabram District FL

Just a bit of news that may hurt a fair few VT followers. The Great James Bodycoat has been sidelined for up to 8 weeks after breaking his scaphoid yesterday against Nagambie.

Hope your back alot sooner than that Bodzy#32. Best of luck Champ.

Tragic news for Jimmy. Against his new home town. Surely this will see VT's premiership odds drift significantly.

bad luck for the leading full-back of kdfl this adds to the clubs woes hopefully better getting them early in the year than late. bodzy is a huge loss for the towners coming up against some real premiership contenders in the next couple of weeks. i know bodzy will still be there at game day at 10 supporting and running water as usual for the thirds which is much appraciated. if i know bodzy well enough he'll try turning 8 weeks into 4 weeks so he can get back out there with the boys. sweat rag and the chief ross will surely stand tall in his absense as they are a team on their own down back

Don't know about the great bit but thanks slush. Don't think you can really rush your scaphoid she's a slow healing bone apparently. Guess it just means the Friday sessions are back!

Re: Kyabram District FL

Just a match report of Naggaz v VT:
In what were very heavy ground conditions yesterday Nagambie put up a really good fight for the first half and it was turning into a real danger game for us. I thought they were a much better team than there win loss ratio would suggest. Maybe another year or two of senior footy for their young blokes and they'll be up there.
Jack Smyth dominated from start to finish with five goals and probably 40 touches i reckon and i thought Ryan Trotter was superb with many pack marks ang Mugsy and Tim Ross were flawless running the ball out of defence.

There's an online route planner. You just type in the town you want to start at and the town you want to end at and it tells you how far it is apart. As for getting out.... not as much as I'd like! :p

I am very intrigued by what the VCFL will do next year. Especially in my neck of the woods (PDFL) and with the BDFL. I would like to think they could do it right this time so that these sorts of problems don't come up each year!

Well if nothing's out by now re: 2008 it will be another balls up no doubt. If changes are gunna occur the VCFL need to plan it through thoroughly and give clubs, leagues etc a decent timeframe for discussions, resolutions etc.

Was very disapointing turnout by Yea. 3rds only had about 11 players so took about 5 of Tally's. Also had a few of the 3rds play seniors. All up I think they probably had about 28 players in total from the 3 grades of footy make the long trek.
I think one of their netball sides also pulled the pin.
You have to wonder how long they can keep going. I wouldn't like to be traveling that far every 2nd week!!

Didnt stop the man drinking a heap at the Euroa footy club on Saturday night. One arm in a sling and the other firmly holding onto a VB or Jim Beam can.

Re: Kyabram District FL

Know what you saying and agree to an extent, but a great coach that he learnt off used to do that a fair bit and no matter what your thoughts on dirty he has to be rated as, at the very least, a good coach.

yer agreed hank1 dave williams was a exellent coach, hanson has learnt his tactics from a great man, and im sure if he thought that the tactics he uses arent working, he wouldnt use them.
