very good point bodzy, but why do they have to have thirds. i have been reeding this forum for a while now and the talk of other teams joining the league and maybe 2 div is good, but there is no reason for teams to worry if they can't field a thirds team as in the ovens and king comp there are a few teams without thirds. and if you remeber back to cgfl dookie had no thirds and i don't think they have one now.

Yes they do have thirds now

Re: Kyabram District FL

Are you positive we can't fit Ardy into the proposed southern comp..

Found out last night that we are playing our first praccy match in 2 weeks time (Wed 16th March), in the Gig night series.. Not sure who we're playing, but apparently 10 teams have signed up. Anyone got a fixture or know any more about it??

Re: Kyabram District FL

I hope you are not playing Ardy in the nite comp - sounds like a few of them might have your measure in the intimidation department

Division 2 is a death knell. If I stated that Violet Town and Ardmona were going into division 2 next year the players at those clubs would seriously consider whether to stay or to chase "better footy" in division 1 or GVFL. The easiest way out of this as stated is a new league based with Southern teams which probably dont have to have 3rds.

You could also have a mixture of teams in a 3rds comp from different areas on the same day as the senior teams ie Thornton Eildon vs Longwood 3rds followed by Thornton Eildon Vs Alexandria 1sts.
Reverse fixture and have Longwood 3rds playing at home next week before their senior team.

The system above works in Yarra Valley MDFL at present. Its not perfect but its better than no 3rds at all and the clubs that cannot supply 3rds are not held over a barrell by the league if they have taken every step to secure some.

Ardy are playin in the Barooga night series. Most of the so called intimidation has left the cattery, in Sleethy and Willo.

sounds as there are would be many leagues that have the same problem with thirds. surely there are ways that the vcfl can find to continue junior football and club survival. at the moment things are ok but 2 years down the track we could see another bdfl, kdfl etc. team in reccess and these questions raised again, something needs to happen and the end of this season to solve this problem and the worries of many clubs in the district or we could see alot of towns without the lifeline of football that it needs

Re: Kyabram District FL

Last bus trip down South for the Big Burly Cosby ended in a Migrane and an early ride home with the Presidents wife. I can see why you might not be to keen to head down that way to often Big Fella. ;)
And as if I wasn't in enough pain, I had to reject 'the mug'.

That would have really hurt to miss the mug but I bet you managed to make up for that taking drinks into the pub in ya pockets the next week.:D

It doesnt end in the seniors either, the thugs they round up to play thirds just so they have a side are worse then anything i have seen on a football field.

Yep the league made a bad blue at the start of 2004 rallying around the clubs to keep them in the comp. They should have posted their final stamp accepted Shepp East the following year and the credibility of the comp would have continued to grow.

Re: Kyabram District FL

Whats the go with that Sanders? Echuca are chasing hard apparently?

My mail is that he has committed to Stanhope after his good mate Maggett Emmett decided to travel back from Ballarat to suit up again.

Never been too worried about Sleethy or Willo, I'm just hoping the Gullick brothers can keep a lid on that vicious temper of theirs:p

That's why we're still hoping to get Ryan Rass in a tigers jumper this year - I could just picture him caught between opposition spectators and yelling out in an enraged voice "ANYONE OF YOU'S!!"

Massive rumour today Hanky old boy, that Stanhope's 2003 B&F and arguably one of the best players to have a run around in the KDL, Matt (?) McQueen is a chance of lining up in a lions jumper this year.. Any truth mate? Thought you might have tried luring him into a blues guernsey..

Big, tough, molbile, skillful ruckman, just what the doctor ordered for Patto and his men..

Nothin on paper yet hanky boy, but he has trained a couple of times and is in very good nic. The magget man will also be bringing another mate back to the mainland, he is a similar size to the kernel but its been rumored that he lacks the foot skills. Will be very handy to have that kind of hight though.

On the Mark McQueen rumors, well thats the first I've heard of it. If he does make an appearance it would be fantastic. But I'll believe it when I see it.

Yeah same here on Wacka, no mail received yet on that one, but we do need one of those players also, I've still got his mobile no. in my phone for a rainy day so might give it a bell!

Re: Kyabram District FL

Sign him up Hank, Stanhope don't need him. ;) They've got the lingman, that'll do.

Tav, do you know if the young yapper Elborough has been training at Tigerland. You wouldn't miss him, he'd be the one hanging sh*t on everyone he meets.
