Mainland... hansford when at his best you couldnt stop..wouldnt think he would consider himself a big name player in any side tho...but coming from w.a club last year where he was a dominant player in the M.R. to vic this year what went wrong... i had been trying to follow his season but missed most updates... they tell me he had a rough season on and off the ground..?.. whats the reasons for his departure to shepp east...money????

Wouldnt think that hansford would be leaving for the money as shepp east arent a big spending club rather a more balanced spending club with no individual on massive money!! Im hearing that he wants to play with mason again and also maybe getting an assistant coaching role at shepp east??? I say good luck to him if he one day wants to become a coach somestage down the track????:footy:

Haha, getting some laughs on here, as far as minor league clubs go they would be right up there. Can maybe see where your coming from saying balanced spending with none on massive money if 6-8 players are on $4-500 is what your talking about;). Most minor league clubs call that massive money though.

I think you will find "Giveitawash" would be correct on this matter, ol Hanky

I have no doubt he would be, you'd hope so anyway!. Like I said depends what each club rates as massive money;) How did the KDL back pocket of the decade go on the pay scale out there? Did u finish the year off there? Injured?

We could've just ignored the old biddies at the town library who 'unearthed' new info at the time, but they were so excited by their find that we pulled the centenary and rescheduled for 2010.

If they come forward again with 'new' history they'll be sleepin with the fishes. ;)
a couple of good pick ups cosby, 2 onballers and a solid defeneder, should be a good year. The only worry will be keeping out of that 3rd position on the ladder. This time of year lancy is penciled in for that posy. You getting yourself fit for a big year or is retirement beckoning??

Great pick up for Lancy who have also signed one of the best KDL full-backs in Adam Thomson.

Thomo must have been offered a pretty good deal: good cash and a clause in his contact to not have to turn up to any functions (Not that he didn't "never show up at gig", he went to his fair share) because not so long ago, a couple of months, he was telling of how he never turned up to any lancy functions, as he didn't think much of the players and people of the club, any way good luck to him

U seem to follow Wobbs movements very closely random, u sure it isnt love:D

You need to check your own veggie patch before you come on here waffling on about big money being offered, when your mob are offering the big bucks around to whoever will listen

Thanks for the feedback Forty One, Hank1 and The Prez
I’ve stated my case on KDFL Big Footy that district footy player payments are out of control (and not cared about by VCFL) and will see clubs/leagues fold/ amalgamate in the near future because of nebulous payments to puissant mercenaries. The city suits want forever upward mergers. What about Bonnie Doon losing a league then denied entry to their league of choice!
I know Longwood have to join the circus but my comments on the blog have stirred the possum a bit and my response is to make it clear that I am not on the Redlegs committee and my blog is only my opinion and observation as an old bloke who has been around country footy for a long time. Whatever the Redlegs pay to survive in this cesspool is not my business .. but, overall is my deep concern.
The main point is that these district footy bloggers maintain that players are ENTITLED to demand payment .. but WIIFM (What’s In It For Me) ask the non paid volunteers?
One bloke said look in your own back yard .. Forty one stuck it right up the Romans with a quote from Reg (The Holy Grail for non-believers..) that it is a Catch 22 (another hard-hitting movie which you would have to be over forty to remember). So how do you expect the Redlegs to survive.
Another tried to defend player payments and he half agreed that it is an employer/employee relationship! Yet another said that “many” clubs have contracts and their committee take with-holding tax. Erh .. VCFL please explain .. how many? Also .. how many accountants and lawyers do you have on your small town footy club committee ..and for Cripes sake don’t call it a board.
Be-jeepers. How naive? Most clubs I have observed over the last 30 plus years put their match day awards through the books (wind fall gain for ATO .. maybe?) but the $400-$500 paid to the 6-8 mercenaries is usually cash from a coterie.
And if someone argues that there IS an employer/employee contract relationship then what of the 9% compulsory super, workers comp issues and ..god forbid .. OH&S litigation when an unsafe playing field causes a disability .. that’s apart from all the other public liability and ambulance costs etc. issues which do happen while the player is in a sporting relationship with a sporting club under the 1983 Incorporated associations act. Or is he a subbie who has to cover all , including the plumbers crack when he (..accepts reluctantly) to clean the clubroom toilets after the game!
.. Phew .. sorry to go off but it looks to me that the KDFNL blog is more concerned about who is going where for the best money, as against why district country footy is disappearing up its own plumbers crack!
Cheers John Carrot .. :thumbsu:
.. Apart from the aquaduct .. I’ll leave you guys till later!
Ps I loves me veggies but if you ask , I’ll give you the best recipe for waffles “The Prez”!

I recall when thomo came to gig he was a nice quiet guy that went about his bisness with little fuss he is a quality player will be an asset to lanky and a loss to gig sorry to see him go :)

Midfield depth is something that Lanky have lacked for some time, so Shane and Adam should help that out, plus Trashie is a damn good backman so they won't need me down there doing anymore.
Will be interesting to see who else sticks around, the lure of centenary year is a fairly big one though.

From what i have been told Gig have got the better end of the deal with Tomo going there and a top 4 Lanky player going to Gig and im sure you no who it is Cosby,

Nice in an ideal world, and to paraphrase Reg, what have the mercenaries ever done for us? Unfortunately there are a lot of very ordinary footballers getting money in this league, but what do you do? There are not too many Brenton Gray's hobbling around who play for the club. If clubs dont pay the money, the players walk, the clubs become uncompetitive, the supporter base drops, income drops and the club finds itself in a catch 22 situation of having to spend money they dont have to become competitive again. The towns in this league aren't big enough to field strong sides using locals, so we have to cough up the dough.
Spot on "Quarante" One .. and apologies for my post yesterday on the same subject .. Reg was from The Life of Brian not the Holy Grail.
Cheers

Yes he has crossed camps.

After playin last year with nick i thought thte smartest thing for him to do if he left lanky was to head to a major league club cos he is good enough thts for saw. dont know he will have the ryan mitchells and the paul parsons helpin him out out there. hes one a great bloke so i wish him the best but there is a lot of water to go under the bridge yet

Gee thanks Hanky one of the nicest things you've ever posted about me:rolleyes:. As ive told you before though no $$ in the fencesitter's pockets, tried to finish off out there but failed, the baby Cow's seen better days.

did varcoe play thirds at gig or something or lancy not look after him?? seems strange you would leave in the centenary year for no good reason. Couldnt be cash surely, how old is he??

He's only 19 or 20, he won the Inch Medal with Lancaster in 2007.

Had a couple beers with him not to long ago, has got his own reason's for moving on and it does not involve money. The Kid is looking for a change, he grew up in Gig and has a lot of good mates playing there.
