With that draft in the books, what is the strategy with keeper drafts? I intentionally targeted players under the age of 24 and by the time we got through the first 1/3 of the draft I felt like there were still plenty of decent players, young and old, still available.

Just like an AFL list. Keep as many players as you want. Draft picks based on where you finished to use to draft at end of season or trade depending on your goals.

Typically you can keep all your players but sometimes there is a minimum list turn over rule. Like min 3 players to keep things moving.

At the end of the year, we'll keep as many of our team as you wish and only draft to cover any retirements and delistings ( both AFL club determined and your own delistings). Last year I played in 2 other keeper leagues similar to this and had 4 and 6 picks respectively. It's important to have a good age mix so that you don't have to replace too many each year. Can also offer trades etc to other players any time up till a cutoff date late July. (both players and future draft picks)
In the few years I've been playing, i've made the finals a few times but haven't cracked a grand final yet.
I've found he category scoring system to be much more interesting as you're banking on your whole team scoring in various categories rather than individual players scoring high. It's much more strategic.

How many years of future draft picks can we trade?

I assume the snake draft isn’t relevant in future drafts as we will have a ladder?

Is there scope for a mid season draft where maybe you can have two picks for players who have LTI or have retired? Maybe those picks could be trade collateral too?

Good work everyone, the first draft is often nightmarish and this one was pretty good really.

Also went super young, my average age is somewhere around 20.4.

I like the build when it comes to fantasy, trying to get a real powerhouse long term.

Usually fails but that's the fun for me.

If my firsts can stay on the park they might catch a team napping once or twice but I fully expect to be holding up the ladder for a while.

Focused on talent rather than categories, as the team develops I can then see what strengths the players are trending towards and draft accordingly.

Also tried to draft players that will actually stay in their positions, fanciful thinking probably. At a certain point of the draft I value a kid that will more than likely be a decent half back long term than a goodish midfielder who happens to have forward status for a year.

Either way, looking forward to watching the teams develop over time. Good luck to all.

Not sure if future picks can be traded on the site after our trial period of all features ends. So we may have to keep track of that off-line.

But I'd say we can trade players for next seasons picks. Not two seasons ahead.
