"Damian Barrett and Terry Wallace are speculating on Gillette AFL Trade Radio that long-term deals such as this will now become the norm. Should Fremantle now offer Melbourne youngster Jesse Hogan 12 years to return home to Western Australia?" AFL website.

Yes, Yes they should.

It would be nice to secure him for the rest of his career at 2013 rates. I expect big name talent will all be pulling $1,000,000 a season by the end of the decade.

I suspect this one is going to bitSydney in the but in the future.

I agree - I dont think the club officials at Sydney realise what a disaster Buddy will become once he is based in the same City as Beale.

You have to remember that the Buddy/Beale/O'Conner/Cooper rat pack was considered so poisonous within ARU circles that the various Super Rugby franchises in Australia had to recruit on the basis that Beale/O'Conner/Cooper could not be at the same club at the same time , or based in the same City as Franklin.

There were three sporting clubs crying when the Franklin trade was announced: GWS, Hawthorn and the Warratahs.

No
But if he keeps developing he is out of contract as a 20 year old. I'd have no issue dropping 5 years in front of him...

OK I know this is pick a box time, but in the HUN they are reporting that Carlton are willing to ship out Casboult to get a midfielder
22 years old, 198cm, 100kg, less than 20 games played. He seems to lack football smarts in the few games I've seen him play, but he's a big boy, anyone have any views on him?

Casboult is a big lump of a lad and a great mark. He is, however, possibly the worst kick for goal I have ever seen...no exaggeration

Will fit in nicely then, based on our last game.
Would Michie and Mellington get us Casboult and a late pick?

Why season six as opposed to any other season?

On consistency of output, 2013 was probably Hill's best season to date, but he probably had fewer games where his impact was above and beyond the rest of the team, as compared to other years. And ultimately that's what the side lacked on grand final day - someone to take the game apart.

He should be that player.
Get off Hills back. No player "took the game apart" on GF day - it doesn't happen any more. Hawks were just executed better overall. Hilly cops a tag for a reason and by doing so protects other players. We need his pace through the midfield and our team is better for having him in it.:)

No one has to take the game apart on grand final day. They have to be able to step up and provide an avenue to goal though. None of the midfielders do it. None of them are dangerous enough to get free against weaker opponents, so in a tight game, when the forwards are struggling to kick goals, who does the team call on? As it stands it certainly won't be the midfielders.

Well on GF day it could well have been one of several players who had relatively simple shots at goal but missed, repeatedly. However there is 2014, already happy with Sylvia as a recruit, things are still bright!

I wouldn't call Hill attacking. Attacking players kick goals.

So, based on the GF, Fyfe, Ballas, Walters, Pav, Pearce, Mundy, Barlow and Mayney aren't attacking players then... ???

C'mon Gravy/Clay, you are better than that shallow hateful analysis...

Geez, how many threads do you have to try and take over with your drivel. Find the correct thread and post there mate.

Why would we want casboult? There is a reason he gets dropped every second week, he can't kick.

Would be playing thunder reserves

I don't know, because I reckon I have seen him play less than 5 games in my entire life (has he ever played against us?), so I don't know much about him.
But compared to Pods, Gumby, Crameri, Grant, Thorp or any of the other guys spoken of here he is younger than them all, bigger than them all, takes more contested marks per game than them all and isn't, as far as I recall, injury prone. So there might be something to work with?

He's a big unit for sure, but given Carlton don't have much KF depth it's not a great endorsement if they're looking to ship him out.

Yea Schammer used to get a few more touches than our other mids at the time too...
