Not surprised given the giant colon cleansing the club received last season. Getting rid of a large number of players rids the club from poor club culture that has been engrained since 119. At least they recognized they have had huge trouble developing players from scratch. Hence Stevenson is a good pick up and Wines being a "ready-made" rookie is a plus for them.
I hope for a more vigorous and healthy rivalry based on competetive on ground performance, rather than one based on a shit club with a confused identity continually jealous of/threatened by the cross town "younger" rival club.
The sooner they let go of 1870 and "One Club" and embrace a new modern Port Power the easier it will be to remedy off field woes ( crowds/membership).
