Having a guess I would say he is about 185-188 cm tall and about 84kilos. Very much a medium goal kicking forward with pretty good hands. And from what I have seen he has natural forward nous too not an athletic type converted to a forward. Great speed of the mark and I'll be going to Souths game this weekend to keep an eye on shaw, parparone ect

Thanks for that. Much appreciated. Does he have any positional flexibility? Midfield potential or potential to play higher? From what I'm reading he sounds like a full forward - which at his height at AFL level is unlikely.

Let me know if he has any other notable games. Any notes, results or any thoughts are much appreciated.

What range do you see Anthony Bonnadio (VicMetro/Northern Knights) going? Interesting prospect... in the 'best's every week pretty much, but doesn't get a big mention in these phantom drafts.

I have him in my 3rd round - which I'll post soon. Have liked Bonnadio for some time and I hope clubs see something in his game because he is one I've enjoyed watching for some time.

I view him as one of the mid range mid/fwds but could be available later in the draft.

Mid draft - rookie is the type range to look out for him in.

KM - the SA v WA game Fri
Apart from usual suspects
I really liked Aish's game - not the same numbers as Colquhoun but thought he used the ball really well - i just liked his possessions better
In terms on pace and penetration, No. 20 for WA - Simpson - trouble was, he just seemed to hang off the pack too much - would this be a fair assessment of his overall game? prob could change in a good club structure

Do you mean no 20 or Simpson? Simpson was no 10.

Aish is a fantastic talent. Would have to be in the top 1-2 next year.

Simpson is an outside player and can hang off the pack, you are right but I wouldn't say it is an every game thing. He is mostly a receiver but is willing to attack the ball is a willing tackler but doesn't have any real inside game and I wouldn't really expect him to develop one.
I expect he will always been an outside player and would be suited to playing for a club looking for some more outside pace and skill. The potential for outside production looks very good though which to go with his weapons is suggests that there might be something.

Knightmare, I reckon the tigers need a small forward. A Cyril Rioli-esque guy who has great pace and skills, class, lays defensive pressure and can read the ball off the packs.

I wouldn't mind us using our first pick on a guy like this, someone we can put at the feet of Jack Riewoldt and eventually push Nahas and Edwards more towards being depth players.

Does anyone fit this description between say pick 10-18?

Ben Kennedy would be the one who could play that type of role and would be my choice if that is what I was looking for. Shannon Taylor is the other who could be an early selection who could also be suited as a speedy forward. Both worth looking out for in this range.

After watching Murdoch debut for the Cats today , would like to think there would be another kid with pace that we could pick up. Perhaps when you looking at your later rounds if you like a particular less known grass burner , available at one of Geelongs late picks . Yes Please

But the question in relation to Murdoch , how does his brother compare. As quick , the same sort of player?

By the way , KM your efforts along with others like Chris make this board more than just a outlet for the foootball nutters like myself. Your work is the reason its equal if not better than any professional show such as TAC.FS ;):thumbsu:

Jordan was one of my favourites last year, no surprise to see him playing well. Brodie is a bit different though, more of a marking forward - strong hands and an accurate kick. Has been getting up the ground more this year as opposed to playing out of the goal square, his field kicking is good but he isn't quite as quick as his brother. Still looks to be a quality prospect.

And if an unknown speedster is what you want, then you would do well to look at Tullio DeMatteis. Isn't actually too dissimilar to Jordan Murdoch.

Just updated the draft.

Minor changes in draft order.
Added a 3rd round.
Added some player comparisons for some of the earlier draft prospects.
Also added my top 10 for 2013 to give a better feel for where the minidraft eligables would fit into next years calculations which I suspect will also be of interest to many.

Next update will complete my draft profiles for the first three rounds.

Thanks for the kind words Turbocat.

Fair bit of pace available this year and plenty of speedy outside types in particular.

Brodie as Chris25 mentioned isn't nearly as quick as Jordan. Is another medium forward but his strengths are in his marking and kicking skills.

Knightmare, you dont seem to have many Vic Country kids in you top 50(except of course AIS boys?) with plenty of Dandenong kids. Interesting you have a total of two(both AIS) from three teams sitting in the top four, and three from a team that has won two games. A total of five. One from Gippsland and Ballarat, none from Murray or Geelong, yet you can find six from Northern who are burning up the competition at the moment. Do you you see any of these kids play? Is it lack of knowledge or lack of respect for the country kids?

My system tends to be to watch some TAC Cup, when the APS season starts I go watch some games, U18 champs, more TAC Cup then some VFL late season and otherwise just get whatever footage/ games I can get my hands on during the season from all over the country.

So I certainly have had great exposure to those for Vic Metro having followed some of the APS schools. But at the same time I also like the talent on the Metro team more this year and consider Ashlin Brown, Thomas Tyquin, Tom Temay and Kenny Ong probably unlucky not to be in my draft order at this stage and if I extended to a 4th round would all certainly be in there.

Of the Country boys the only others I have been impressed with who I don't have in my draft right now are Sam Martyn, Nicholas Graham and Josh Saunders and overall from Vic Country I've been more impressed with their under agers who other than Oliver Wines, Lachie Whitfield and Taylor Garner have really carried the team and kept them competitive against the more talented Vic Metro and WA sides.

Any country boys you have on your radar who you think I should be look out for wallycleaver? Because I'm just not seeing as much talent on the Vic Country squad this year as in years gone past.

Whats the go with Allir for Queensland? is he old enough to draft this year?

Is draft eligable this year. Talk of clubs being interested so it will be interesting to see if he gets picked up. Has some Majak Daw and has been as competitive as you can expect a low 190cm guy to be in the ruck.

Knightmare history will show you vic country tac cup sides will make up 25-30 % of nat draft kids, at the moment three out of top four tac cup sides are country sides reasonwould have it at the bare minimum there will be 10-15 country kids go in your top 50. I dont think your giving the bush kids the respect they deserve. You might have egg on your face come November unless you get out of the big smoke and the silver spoon service at APS football and watch some country tac cup sides. Just looked at two kids in your muck draft numbers 8 &48 both from nk ,one is premier on baller only averages 15 touches with 55 % effiency, the other kpp and part time ruck has taken one contested mark in four games of tac. I dont profess to be an expert one of those kids ihave not seen live they were two out of the first three kids i looked at. I can give you players from bushies because i see most games but that would be unfair on those other countrytac cup sides your not looking hard enough at. Talking to afl clubs most country kids have a bigger upside because they spend more time travelling than there city counterparts, less time to do extra training

very nice work as always KM appreciate the hard work n effort put in!

i think your being a little generous with carlton and where we will finish this year, i think more so around the nth melbourne mark will be right for us this year....... unfortunately.

The upside to this is that ollie wines or stringer could slip through

You have to remember that people like KM are mostly amateur draft watchers and have a limited amount of time and resources. Of course they may miss certain players, but that is to be expected from rookie amateur draft watchers will miss certain regions.

I am sure it is hard for someone based in Melbourne to get a perfect feeling for those WA and SA kids as well. These mock drafts are more about getting names out to the public, with a rough guideline as to where they may get drafted.

Spot on, I think it's kind of lost on some people that KM et al aren't professing to be 'experts'; they're just making their views available to us.

I do my best not to favour players of any state or regional area and just place players in the draft where I expect them to go. Having watched allot of APS footy naturally my knowledge at this stage of the Metro prospects in particular is very high and certainly higher than the Country prospects which means I will better be able to identify which will/won't get drafted. As the year progresses I'll make sure I get a more complete knowledge of the draft as a whole whether that be country prospects, those from other states and state league prospects in particular which always is a last minute rush.

Of this years Vic Country prospects having an early guess those I expect to get drafted are: Lachie Whitfield, Jake Stringer, Oliver Wines, Tanner Smith, Taylor Garner, Jason Pongracic, Nathan Wright, Mason Wood (will add to draft on next update - v-good v Metro), Jake Calvert (will add to draft on next update - v-good v Metro), Tim Membrey and Sam Heavyside. - Which is already in your 10-15 band. I expect this to expand including rookies to probably 20-25 by the end of the year and these 10 or so I see getting drafted are only the country prospects I rate at this point in time.
I'm happy to take names on others to look out for if there are others of note who I have overlooked and I will happily keep an eye out.

Vlastuin has always when spoken about been considered one of the high end talents this year and I'd be surprised to see that changing. He is one of a number of players who have produced well below expectations at the u18 champs - but this is due to an ankle injury he has been struggling with. So I would be surprised to see him drop.

Celebicanin is one of my smokies who I've seen a fair bit of in APS footy and one many likely will have missed if only watching TAC Cup or country football. Full forward with a big body and is a strong marking presence, good at ground level and is capable of taking a big contested grab. Good finisher around goal and from a small sample of viewings he has really impressed and has been one of the few key forwards to spike my interest this year. Probably more of a rookie prospect but a name I'd like to get out there because he hasn't been spoken about and has shown that he has something.

Hi Knightmare, I see you have put Banfield at pick 50. What are your thoughts on him?

Not a high end talent. More of a late-rookie selection. Has shown some through the midfield. Would like to see him dominate against higher level competition first before I say with any confidence that he gets drafted.

Thanks for the kind words.

North Melbourne winning a few surprise games over the past week. Wrecking my footy tipping! Carlton when Murphy comes back I think could get on a big winning streak late season and come close, but it will be a real race to the finish with Richmond, North Melbourne, St Kilda and Geelong to finish inside the top 8.

Wines I expect will be out of reach assuming he finishes the season off strongly. Vlastuin and Stringer might be the potential sliders who could present some value mid 1st rounder if still avabilable and would be my two I'd recommend for Carlton to keep an eye out for if finishing bottom 8.
