Entirely unofficial, however I believe Koby Stevens became the VFL/AFL's 200th Aboriginal player in debuting for West Coast yesterday. The figure is based on a manually-updated version of this list of players.
It's instructive to chart the participation levels of indigenous players at the top level. The following table lists the total number of players, number of aboriginal players, total number of individual matches played and total number of individual matches by Aboriginals for each season since 1982. I've chosen that year as a starting point since it heralded the arrival of great players in the Krakouer brother and Maurice Rioli, who created a sensation and helped pave the way for others to follow.

Football's come a long way since Doug Nicholls was forced to leave Carlton without playing a game due to racial discrimination. With the AFL preparing to further dilute its talent pool by adding two new teams, it is now dependent on the continued influx of Aboriginal talent to keep standards high. This perhaps explains its sensitivity towards recent comments made by Mal Brown and Dipper, but that's a separate issue.
