Humphries info is confusing - club press release says 'committed for a further year until the end of 2027' while also saying he was OOC at the end of 2025.

Geelong have received a quadruple boost with Jake Kolodjashnij, Jed Bews, Lawson Humphries and Ted Clohesy signing new deals with the Club.

Both 2022 Premiership players, Kolodjashnij (end of 2026) and Bews (end of 2025) have extended their time after playing a key role in Geelong’s run to a Preliminary Final in 2024.

Despite not being out of contract until the end of 2025, Humphries has committed to the Club for a further year, making him a Cat until at least the end of 2027.

After making his AFL debut in Round 24 2023 against the Western Bulldogs, Clohesy has inked a one-year extension until the end of 2025.

I would have liked to see Humphries sign a 2 or 3 year deal rather than a 1 year extension. Maybe just his manager and himself backing him in to be able to get a better deal in 2 years.

Humphries is interesting. 1 year is a bit of a nothing extension when he's already contracted for next season.

Perhaps he wants to try and cash in after this contract is up. But could just as easily have done that next year if he continues on his current trajectory.

Gives him and the club security for 2 more years whilst letting him try and pump his value for the next contract.
