These are my order of preference for draftee forwards from other clubs.
They have all been mentioned on this forum at some stage. Any resemblance to reality, ie: in terms of trading for them, is coincidental- though would welcome some realistic comments on that.

1. Barry Hall
2. Ashley Hansen
3. Tim Boyle
4. Beau Dowler
5. Todd Grima
6. Adam Campbell
7. Michael Newton
8. Courtney Johns
8. Jay Schulz

Welcome your superior knowledge as per realistic trading chances-
also aware Hall, Campbell, Dowler seem extremely unlikely.

Is he actually available? Because if it's just speculation I can think of a whole lot of other names.

It was mentioned on the channel ten news that he and the club are at an impasse over money and years, What he wants and what he is being offered are poles apart. So i would be surprised if he has been offered more elsewhere and might be worried about Hawkins getting more games next year.

1. Ben Reid
2. Mitch Thorp
3. Ed Barlow
4. Barry Hall
5. Beau Dowler
6. Michael Newton
7. Ashley Hansen
8. Cleve Hughes
9. Tim Boyle
10. Todd Grima
11. James Podsiadly
12. Jay Shultz

The highlighted players would cost us a first round pick IMO, something we don't have.

Barry Hall perhaps a low second round, our second round selection is what, 32?

Im not sure if Ed Barlow is the answer. A couple of people have mentioned him but hes really a tall winger who can play key defence, not really the big marking forward we need.

Interesting! don.t know much about this Barlow guy- thought he was a South African all-rounder back in the apartheid days. Seriously- any more info on him?
Also, it seems really unlikely that clubs will let go of players under ,say, 21 yrs old given emph. on youth and GC concessions don;t you think?
Thats why someones sugg. about taking Hansen and Grima had immediate realistic appeal.

My ratings in brackets. Didn't rate the last 3 because I wouldn't want to trade for them. Last 3 rated I would only get if cheap.

We have tryed for podsiadly but they dont reckon he is up to the standered of afl, will forever be in and out (just like a hill or everitt at the moment.. except they will be good)

the ones in bold are worth a look but they will want sumthing we dont want to give for him.

Lol franklin would have been nice, just if he lasted one more pick in 2004 :( because we took ryan griffin with pick 3 and lance franklin was pick 5 and then we got tom williams with pick 6 just if that could have been buddy for pick 6 :(

Dont mind as long as he can actually take a contested mark.
Also as long as we dont get Shultz he is no good.

Would love to see us make a run for Hanson and Lonergan. I rate both highly.
But I think Lonergan will stay, after all he is playing in the second best team in the comp.

We should definetly go for tony lockett :D or matthew loydd or hall and then make a time machine and take them back to there first years of good footy and keep em :D

Its a bit hard for Ed to get a decent run at CHF or FF with the Swans, except when Bazza is suspended.

The fact he has the pace to play wing considering his size is another feather in his cap in my opinion.

He seems to pick up his share of contested marks.

IMO the only ones of any interest are Thorp, Reid and Hughes. I'd prefer Thorp or Reid, but knowing the Hawks and Pies trading history, the price would be too high, i.e. Higgins minimum. I'd be prepared to swap Ray and a shuffle of picks (say, Ray, 32 & 48 for Hughes and 42) to get Hughes. It would be a gamble, but as Ray is going to leave anyway, it would not cost a lot. We could offer a two-year contract and if, at the end of the two years, it hadn't worked out, no great loss. I think this option is better than picking up a player who is not the answer to our problem, but, at the same time, is not hopeless (Welsh last year, possibly Hansen this year). All this does is prevent a young player getting an opportunity to prove himself and, as a result, we tread water.

If we come away from this trade week without anything, I won't be that concerned. I reckon the talk about our lack of a key forward is a bit of a media beat-up, an easy excuse (afterall, we are one of the highest scoring teams). Get some game-time into Grant and the solution could be quicker than a lot of us think...

I agree with swapping Ray, but I dont think we need to be putting any picks on the table to get a recycled forward who never realy worked out at Richmond.

A few tigers are talking about a

Ray > West Coast

Seaby > Richmond

Hughes > Bulldogs

type three way swap.

I'd be happy with that and i think it's fair, but i'm not sure Richmond have given any indication they want to trade Hughes (although they're probably keen to do some deal to get Seaby), so that might force the price up marginally.
