Krooooooooozer!

Well, it looks like this guy will be ok. It's about time. Third time lucky or something for Carlton and their number one draft picks. I understand people getting excited about late picks who play like this, but you'd think that it would be expected that number one draft picks should play well. ie. when a guy who half the AFL overlooked stands up as the best first year player in the league, that is reason to be excited, but please - he was a number one draft pick. It's about time you tools got something right.

It's kind of sad though. Carlton are running a talented 18 year old into the ground as they have nobody else to fill the ruck position. They left him in the ruck last week against a monster of a man in Brad Ottens. Kreuzer's body will be ruined before he can stamp his authority on the AFL.

im not sure if they have TV's in Alice Springs, but Kruezer has hardly rucked at all recently. Cam Cloke and Hampson were doing all the ruck work and have been doing so in the previous matches.
Kruezer will be a 10+ year player, and therefore the club isnt stupid enough to threaten his developing body.

Beat me to it - I was at the Geelong game and I know Hampson pretty much rucked most of the last quarter.

Look at the Carlton supporters desperate to see Kreuzer get the Nom this round :p

If he was that good you wouldn't care if he got it this week because you'd be confident he'd get it next week ;)

That's how I am with Cotch. If 25 possies and 2 goals isn't enough in his 3rd game, then I'm confident he'll get it next week.

One thing is for certain though - the top 2 picks from the 2007 draft could prove to be the most talented top 2 picks in AFL history.

Riewoldt/Kosi are currently the best 1 + 2 combination IMO but they are overrated. Cotch looks to be the best top 2 pick since Hodge and Kreuz for a big man the best since Roo.

Ok so lets see!

What would you prefer, 5 touches and 3 goals in one qtr at 33% efficiancy (spl?)

or

11 touches, 1 goal and 100% efficiancy in one qtr

I agree 100% that it was a match winning quarter but really playing one quarter of football is no where near good enough! For any player!

This is a 4 quarter game!

once again not bashing the bloke because he is an unreal talent and everyone can see that but everyone is going on about it as if the bloke just won the premiership for the blues!

Dude stats and efficiency ratings and consistency of effort are all well and good when you're debating the merits of two kids who did not much other than gather a few stats and kick an irrelavant goal or two.

But Kreuzer won game off his own boot - unless anyone else did that this round then he'll get the nomination or else the award will become even more farcical than it already is.

It's pretty disrespectful to say it is a "farce" for Trent Cotchin to get the nom.

He was brilliant in the first 3 quarters, in the first half the way he won and used the ball would have been a match winning effort if only his teammates didn't buckle when he ran out of air (due to no pre season).

I don't think you understand how seriously good Cotchin was.

His first quarter alone was equal to Kreuzer's last quarter. Watch the replay ;)

Lets just say both Richmond and Carlton fans are happy with whom they drafted ..

I'd have no probs with Cotchin getting the rising star nomination this week, he was sensational again for Richmond ... And if only some of his other teammates played with his grit, but Freddie Kruezer was great for the Blues with match winning goals.

It's easy to see though why Kruezer and Cotchin went 1 and 2 in the draft though.

How ____ing good is this bloke?? The upside with him is enormous.

Good stuff Kreuz, keep it up!

Just think Natainui towelled him up in last year's U18 Carnival. How good is that bloke going to be?

Thats crap. A Myth.

I've watched the game multiple times and in no way did Nat towel up Krooz. Krooz had 23 hitouts, 16 touches and a goal to be victorias best player.

While Nat may have just edged (not smashed, edged out) him in the hitouts, Krooz beat him comprehensively around the ground.

Kruezer and Cotchin are both going to be superstars. Well done Blues and Tiges recruiters. Safe to say both teams would be stoked with their selections. :thumbsu:

Seen plenty of posters here and on other sites say otherwise.

Whilst I only watched part of the game he seemed to have K's measure.

I know that I saw Ottens crashing into the kid though. Bad management by Carlton.

lmao

So what, we're supposed to wrap him up and not let anyone touch or tackle him? May as well keep him on the bench for the first couple of years until he's big enough .

He's play football, of course he's going to get 'crashed' into.

Makes Nic Nat even more valuable then doesn't it?

No, just proves you need to watch the games rather than rely on the misinformation that finds its way on to here. Apparently Tom Hawkins was going to be the second coming, based on his schoolboy performances, yet last week he got touched up by an Irish hurling player. At this stage Natanui has not played at AFL level, so no-one knows how good, or otherwise, he will be.

BTW, I am fascinated by your interest in Carlton, looking at your posts in this thread & the respect thread. Rather unusual for a newbie, (if that is what you are) Hawthorn supporter to have so much to say about Carlton when your own club is flying. Sometimes things just aren't what they seem.

Well the answer in the respect thread just screams out to be laid out there.

As for this thread. As I said I only watched parts of the game (say 60% spread throughout) and NN seemed to be doing OK. I've heard plenty of commentators since say he did better than that. I haven't heard many refute the claim.

Speculate all you want. However if I start another Hawk thread for a decent (not brilliant but decent) win it would have every Hawk bagger in there telling me to give it a rest. Hence I was working with the OPs I saw and this just screamed "too soon."

I didn't say it was a farce for Cotchin to get the nom. I said the award is already perceived as farcial by many people for a number of reasons.

IMO giving the nomination to a player for an excellent performance that could have been match winning under different circumstances, over a player whose performance was match winning is illogical and will reinforce existing perceptions.

I didn't see Cotchin's game. I don't need to. I'm sure he is a gem and played like the future superstar he will be. But there's 11 other weeks for him to get a well deserved nomination, so it shouldn't be this week over an actual match winning (if statistically inferior) performance by Kreuzer.

None of that is disrespectful to Cotchin in the slightest.

Freddie Krueger needs to back it up week after week before he can be thought of as a NAB rising star. Mayne is the best leader at Freo and should win the RS.

How did Hawthorn ever rate Thornton, has to be the worst player to play 100 games.

I think you need to check your maths again or maybe you have a crazy calculator.

If Special K has only 5 touches and 3 of them are goals then we can safely assume that at least he had 60% efficiency even if 2 of those possessions were ill directed.
