AFL Club
Hawthorn
Other Teams
Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorns
I'm not sure the television showed the correct incident so jump in here if I'm wrong. Did this bloke just get offered one week for a slight push on Lindsay Thomas (who dived)? If this is the case, we are at the crossroads and something needs to be done about the clowns running this sport. If I'm wrong, delete this thread and apologies.

If there was anyone from Essendon that would have been suspended it would have been Hurley, but seriously that was the softest suspension I've ever seen

The footage on channel two showed Lindsay Thomas with the ball (presumably just taken a mark), Hardingham runs in to man the mark and gives him the slightest of shoves. Thomas milks it with a big dive.

If this is true, Essendon have to take it on and a big **** you to the AFL.

Was Hardingham the one that knocked over Thomas that gave Firrito another 50m penalty to kick a goal from the goalsquare behind play? I didn't see that incident but when I heard Hardingham was suspended I assumed that would be what it was for...

Knocking over Thomas after he took the mark was barely even a 50m penalty, let alone warranting of a suspension if that's what it was for.

Is this the incident when the commentators started talking about the diving rule and what a joke it is that the AFL don't enforce it?

Seriously getting turned off by this stupid admin. Now the Pies have the flag I can see myself walking away in a couple of years...

A sparrows fart would have knocked Thomas over on the weekend.
Rawlings too.

He went for the hit on Thomas when Firrito marked and was hit by Hurley, which made up the 100 metre penalty. The footage being referred to in this thread was Thomas taking a dive after marking, which rightly was not awarded 50.

Monfries too.

Anyway there are posters on your board that actually believe Delaney should have been suspended for trying to smother Hocking's shot at goal, so it's a bit rich implying that North is soft.

Soft is not the word. Disgusting is how your performance should be described.

So the MRP panel have handed down a suspension on video footage when there was no actual footage and a doctors report for a player who had no injury. Great work yet again.

Any way they can squeal, we can squeal better?

I saw the Thomas/Hardingham incident live and it was very soft. So no arguments there, just clarifying to the OP that it wasn't the incident he's talking about.

I think Hurley is a lucky boy though, was clearly a deliberate act as retribution for Thomas hitting Stanton as he kicked.

yeah, thought he had a reprimand coming. wasnt overly hard and firritos head was deserving of it.
Surprising that the three high contacts that had footage went unpunished (Hurley, Firrito, Goldstein) and the one that didnt got a week.
Go figure

Ok - cheers.

Kyle has put his hand up and admitted he struck Thomas and will miss this Friday's game. Hope he learns to play the ball in future.

That's the problem with the system, where do you go from low impact, intentional? Can't argue either once it has been stated, even more so considering that we believe there is no footage (umpire recount?).

Didn't Firrito go for an equally soft incident earlier on in the year? It's not that you are admitting you've done, the system is just not set-up for challenging. Farcical really, guilty before trying to prove non-guilt.

You're not serious are you?

Whilst a small minority might believe that Delaney should have been reported, most supporters are just pointing out (tongue in cheek) that if you follow the MRP rules to the letter, you could find him guilty. Thankfully he is not.
