Not to further sink the boot in but watch the highlights of that match- so many counter attacks when he shoots instead of passing. If he passed more I'm certain his goals wouldn't drop too much- as he'd in turn get more chances. Wasteful.

He's so obsessed with scoring himself. I suppose being overly ambitious has never been a bad thing but when he shows displeasure at his team scoring, you'd want to question his objectives.
9 shots with only 1 on target. No completed dribbles. Poor stats even by his self indulgent standards but indicative of the Ronaldo problem.....He is obsessed with scoring because only by racking up huge goal stats can he try to maintain the ridiculous fiction that he is Leo Messi's equal as a footballer.

I normally try and stay away from these arguments but obvious facts are obvious.
Its a bit like chatting up the girl and trying too hard. She runs.
Ronaldo so transparently is fixated on being seen as the best that his naked need for it just turns a lot of people off. We all know - or think we know which amounts to the same thing in public opinion - that he would rather be top scorer than see Madrid win the liga. He is like an NBA star several of whom simply use the franchises as a base from which to work on their profile.
Paradoxically if Ronaldo wanted it less he would have more neutral esteem.

interesting reference to the NBA mate.
Makes me think of Kobe Bryant after Phil Jackson left town ( 2 seasons of jacking up shots and not passing to team mates). Phil comes back, Kobe buys in, shoots less, passes more and becomes a leader leading to 2 championships. Phil retires, rinse and repeat.
The parallel to that Kobe scenario is Ronaldo under Sir Alex and the differences between RM and United (at that time anyway). No player had more influence than Sir Alex at United whereas at Madrid, if he's unhappy, the manager gets sacked. Ronny bought into playing as part of a team at United and did in his first couple of seasons at RM. However, he's drifted worryingly away from that over the last two seasons.

It was awarded to him and the fans and loud speaker were chanting his name but he indicated it wasn't his goal, so it was changed.

Its Messi who needs Ronaldo. He was never the top scorer in La Liga before Ronaldo arrived, whereas Ronaldo was breaking scoring records in the PL before joining La Liga.

Pretty much all the fans were chanting his name and even the loud speaker but it was Ronaldo who said it wasn't his goal. If he wasn't top scorer maybe he would've asked for it but he's got that luxury at least
