I have no doubt that we made it clear to camp-Neale that there was a limit to what we were prepared to offer for him and it became a reality that it probably wasn't possible.

I am assuming this, but I am very happy with how the club has handle this. If Neale was assured that we would pay the price then he'd be coming back.

Brisbane are in a fairly precarious position now, entering 2022 knowing that your star midfielder will realistically be having a turbulent home life. The extra year didn't work out for Tim Kelly, but Neale will be 30 in 2023... and the what is he worth?

Lol, the reigning Brownlow medallist is a horrendous fit.

It's not a knock on Neale.

It is just when you have Serong, Brayshaw and Fyfe operating as in and under players ….we need pace on the outside and some forward line marking-goal kicking options.

Lose a young Cerra and bring in an older duplication of a position we already have depth in. I guarantee you Freo would not have done a straight swap of Serong or Brayshaw for Neale.

Neale is a great player and perfect for where Brisbane are at the moment. We take 2 decent picks to the draft and get to group 2 more players around Serong, Brayshaw, Young, Henry, Chapman & Darcy.

Losing Cerra hurts way more than not getting Neale ….way more.

Neale strikes me as a pro and I'm sure he'll just get to work for Brisbane.

I think he/wife just saw their brand being trashed. I feel for his wife - no one should cop personal crap but she's 8 months pregnant and probably needed this like a hole in the head.

When the borders open up in 6 months or so ....things may not be appear as dark.

On the foxsports website Neale is quoted as saying this

“We were half considering the prospect of getting back at some stage but after sitting down and talking through it with our family and our friends and with the club and my management team, it became pretty clear after a couple of days that this is the best place for us to be, at Brisbane."

But having watched the video, he very clearly says

So I'll project here... and say that this was a management led mission (obviously with Neale's approval) and the leaking of the proposed move and communication between the clubs was obviously badly managed and Neale had to cut out the management team to appropriately deal with the Lions.

Good pick up...very interesting

We arent out of the woods until the trade period is over as far as I'm concerned.

The approach is perfect to get the gutless ****heads on social media who attack a heavily pregnant lady to turn their attention to the real villains "the media"

He may well stay but I'd be surprised if discussions arent going on behind closed doors.

He'll 100% try to come back next year or the year after

Yeah, if the whole thing was based on legitimate family reasons and things that involve the raising of their first born, this is not over.

Whether that's this year or next is still to be seen.

Hope not - we've dodged a bullet
