I'm going to try explain this as clearly as I can.
What is the word to describe the male and female of a species.
I don't mean the words themselves, but what describes those
e.g. for a duck the male and female are
The closest I've come to is collective noun but that just doesn't feel right.
I guess the the word that fits into the following sentence is what i'm trying to figure out.
"Hen and Drake are an example of <BLANK>. That are used to describe/name the male/female of a species".
