Andre James will not play for the
@Raiders
on Sunday. Jackson Powers-Johnson will get the nod at center against the
@Bengals

Should be an improvement
.

JPJ will be an upgrade. I actually wanted to see Parham start at C and keep JPJ at guard. I think Parham would be a better C than guard.

Kolton Miller, JPJ and DJ Glaze are three guys they can definitely build around. And Parham is a really solid guard. In saying that it still beggars belief why the OL can't run block to save themselves at this point.

Getsy gone. Does AP get to next season?
offensive coordinator Luke Getsy has been fired, in addition to quarterbacks coach Rich Scangarello and offensive line coach James Cregg.

None of these guys had it easy.
One QB injured, others no good, Adams sulking, one good WR, out injured, one TE gone missing, no good rb, Oline injured or not performing and constantly changing.

We had tried for Kingsbury . The delay in hiring AP meant other OCs already had jobs.

The delay didn't stop the Raiders from getting their preferred choice at OC at all.

They interviewed a ton of people. Kingsbury, Getsy, Hue Jackson, Chip Kelly and a few others.

Apparently they are considering bringing Norv Turner out of retirement. Such a move would be akin to the Raiders bringing Tom Walsh out of his bed and breakfast motel to run the 2006 Raiders offense. It's an absolute joke.

AP will be gone at the end of this season. He's in over his head unfortunately.

I was always concerned about the hiring of a 'man motivator' type coach with very little experience in coaching. He was going to need a lot of good coaches around him and a decent QB and avoiding injuries to key players to have any chance.

I was always concerned about the hiring of a 'man motivator' type coach with very little experience in coaching. He was going to need a lot of good coaches around him and a decent QB and avoiding injuries to key players to have any chance.

My two biggest concerns were:

1) getting a competent staff on offense - and in particular have an OC who isn't going to be bailing for a HC job at the first sign of success (stability at this position ensures a young QB can grow and develop in the same system).
2) can AP improve on his clear shortcomings with game management that were on full display last year? The answer to that so far is no.

If they're in a position to get a franchise QB in the draft next April, why would you entrust this current staff to develop said QB? I can't think of any logical reason at this point.

We are in a group of at least eight teams looking for a QB. Two recent early picks haven't worked out.
Can't afford another lost year

Need a top 2 pick to guarantee either Sanders or Ward (who at this point look like the two top prospects).

From a tanking perspective - the following games are really going to decide the top order of the draft:

  • Giants @ Panthers (week 10)
  • Raiders @ Dolphins (week 11)
  • Browns @ Saints (week 11)
  • Patriots @ Dolphins (week 12)
  • Giants @ Cowboys (week 13)
  • Jets @ Dolphins (week 14)
  • Saints @ Giants (week 14)
  • Jaguars @ Titans (week 14)
  • Cowboys @ Panthers (week 15)
  • Jets @ Jaguars (week 15)
  • Jaguars @ Raiders (week 16)
  • Titans @ Jaguars (week 17)
  • Raiders @ Saints (week 17)
  • Dolphins @ Browns (week 17)
  • Colts @ Giants (week 17)
  • Jaguars @ Colts (week 18)
  • Dolphins @ Jets (week 18)

Granted, there will be a few upsets that create some twists and turns as the season goes on, but there are plenty of crappy teams who are playing each other the remaining 9 weeks of the season such that provided the Raiders win just 1 more game the rest of the year, they should have a top 2 pick imo.
