It's not the factions that is the problem with Labour, it's the FACT that it is a party run by the ACTU and not by the grass root members.

Another myth perpetuated by ingrates like yourself. Yes the unions have involvement, but I wouldn't say that the relationship between the party and the ACTU is all that cosy given that the party is dominated by the right (particularly NSW right). The Labor party takes the approach that it is better to work with these organisations rather than ostracise them like Howard, Reith etc. have done over the years. Unions are a legitimate body to protect workers rights and as such are entitled to a voice. The ACTU as a governing body is also entitled to a voice, but this does not mean that they run the party.

As an aside do you think it is worse to have a party that has been influenced by bodies committed to the protection of workers or a party that is heavily influenced by the very companies who seek to exploit these workers?

Given that you stated it as a fact that the party is run by the ACTU. I would like to see you document some examples from the past 5 years where the ACTU has run the party. Not sup[position or inuendo, just the facts.

60:40 rule at the National Conference would be one example, and yes I'm aware that the balance was rejigged recently.
