Laverton Magpies to resume pre-season training Monday Jan 23 and Wednesday Jan 25 at 6pm

Just to let any potential new players and anyone interested know that we resume pre-season training one week from tonight on Monday January 23 (see our website for further details - www.lavertonmagpies.com.au and navigate your way to: "LMFC 2012 Pre-Season Training Schedule" for all pre-season details.

We have had a great start to the 2012 season with not only our pre-Christmas training but between our last session and next Monday nights session we have had a number of players conduct weekly 'non-compolsory' sessions which have been well attended and we are well placed for a successful season.

We have had a couple of players leave/move on as all clubs do, but we have thus far attracted some very good additions and we are very enthusiastic about our finals chances this coming season! Expect further improvement in ladder positioning in both grades and hence an improved playing list and number of wins in 2012!

The Laverton Magpies FC have steadily been attracting new quality players and people and we believe we are wll placed for the upcoming season.... We have thus far attracted new players from Point Cook, Altona, Airport West, Northern Saints, Aberfeldie, North Sunshine and we are sure to attarct some more in coming weeks...

I feel we are going to be vastly improved on last season and we shall continue our steps taken forward in recent years as a club on and off-field. A top 5 finish is not only a wish and a hope but an expectation. Now it is up to us to show everyone what we are made of, step up and achieve it.

If anyone is still looking for a change of scenery and to join a great club that is full of some great people and constantly imrpoving in attitude and ability, please contact me and/or come down for 1 training run - you will not look back!

Looking forward to March 31!

The Laverton Magpies had our first hit-out last night with a 4 x 15 minute intra-club practice match with 2 teams of 21 selected. The coaching staff were fortunate enough to be able to select the 2 teams based on the players that have done all of the right things as per our expectations since November 21 and as such many of our top-line players that have not trained enough nor met our list of expectations were not selected and/or will be coming through the reserves in coming games.

As such the game was played in good spirits and we got through injury-free albeit one broken nose. With over 20 players injured/unavailable/cricket finals and training/rested, we look forward to our upcoming practice matches over the next 2 weekends!
