Leadership group announced today

strange i thought they were going to wait until after the South Africa trip, or were they going to announce the group then test them out for captaincy material in South africa?
I think the captain will be announced on return.

The leadership group was supposed to be known before they left so those in the running have a chance to show their wares in SA (if playing of course).

i have a feeling Simmo's leadership will rise even more over this trip

and nudge ahead and become the new captain!!!

I totally agree Pamam...Simmo would and will be a great leader.

All good choices and just reward for Carrots after his fine season last year.

Glad to see the likes of Murphy and Gibbs have been left out after being in the extended 11-man group last year. Both just need to focus on playing good footy in 2008 as they both have plenty of years in the leadership group ahead of them.

I think that group is perfect. I must say i have found it VERY hard to fault the CFC since the completion of the 2007 season, just thinking about that makes me smile, things are looking up, lets hope we get a flow on effect from the offield setup to onfield sucess. Stand up afl and take notice here we come, back to were we belong..

Congrats to Nick Stevens on becoming the new captain of the Carlton Football club

(and no that hasn't been announced yet, but I'm very certain, with my sources, that is the case, that Stevo will be named captain :) )

They have Fevola and Scotland but no Waite and Murphy? WTF?

Methinks a little bit of pandering to two players who wouldnt be able to hack it otherwise might be going on here. But then again, I am cynical.

Not sure that's correct, the leadership group was voted on by the player's, so is actually a huge vote of confidence and indicates the players standing within the club.

My initial thought was surprise that Carrots was in before a Waite or Murph but then relaising it was a player vote, then absolutely no issue.

For the record [again] Stevo to Captain.

Funnily enough, i've some some whispers that it will be Judd. Guess we'll have to wait until they come back from South Africa.

Is that the same source who told you we were replacing Hughes as recruiting manager? ;)

Funnily enough, despite a great 2007, Carrazzo doesn't strike me as the leadership type from what I've noticed on the footy field. I think Waite would have been a better choice.
It isn't just about what Carrazzo does on the field, off field he might be popular with the playing group who vote for the leadership group IIRC. Carrots is one of the club's fittest players on our list and has worked his arse off to make a career after being cut by the Cats. :thumbsu:

make simpson captain the kid is young, good player, and bleeds blue best example.

Really i dont care but simpson has top be your best vote he was draftec by your team, he pklayed through the shit and now (sadly) your clubs gonna turn around should be captain definetly, unlike the others has onl;y played for carlton
