Very lucky to go through today, absolutely woeful with a Soucek and JWP midfield, Soler can't come in soon enough.

But will take the win, pretty lucky VAR isn't in the Caribao Cup either for Bowens winner.

Because of the bowls I presume?

Still had a less than 25% chance. Think we've played the two Manchester teams in the 3rd or 4th in the last 2 years, so used to it at this point.
They're now manipulating the draw so the teams playing in Europe can't draw each other. Far more likely than ever before to cop one of the big teams.

Yet Liverpool still end up facing the Conference League winners from the season before instead of Barrow or whoever lol.

The only way to fix this is to tell all clubs either you are happy to be part of a random draw or you can choose not to take part in the competition.

Easy way of fixing it is clubs who are playing in Europe don't play in the League Cup.

Hate the idea, clubs and supporters shouldnt be punished for qualifying for Europe.

Hate the seeding idea too. Should be a random draw.

It's not a punishment. It's a way to protect players due to the congested fixtures and also gives clubs outside of Europe a chance to win something. There is still the FA Cup to compete for as well. No need for 2 domestic knockout cups.

It is a punishment.

League cup offers matchday, TV and prize money revenue for clubs (drawing a top Premier league club at home can be a godsend for lower league clubs as well).

It gives opportunities for fringe and youth players to play. It gives players from lower league clubs an opportunity to play against premier league opposition at Premier league grounds in front of big crowds. More than a few have earned a move as a result of how they've gone in those games.

It gives fans the chance to see a game, often for much cheaper than you'll pay in the league. Its pretty hard to get tickets for league gamrs and for my kids, league cup is a great opportunity to see their club play live..

If clubs are bothered about fixture congestion there's a pretty simple solution. Rest your players. Play some youth in the league cup.

I'd rather see us play the U18s and lose than withdraw from the cup because we're good enough to qualify for Europe.
