From what I have been told during the final days of the trade period Brisbane held a meeting with Liam Pickering which included Swan, Leppitsch and Matthews. Matthews became furious when Pickering put forward an ultimatum to them which he disagreed with, Matthews then grabbed grabbed Pickering by the throat and slammed him against a wall and held them there with his elbow on his throat, he also grabbed his nose in between two of his knuckles while Leppitsch was yelling at him to "break it" (his nose). Swan eventually had intervene and break it up.
