no fool im basing his AA selection (not nomination imbecile) on that he didnt deserve it lecras was better. milne has performed these finals series and has easily been the best small forward of the series, he starred against geelong and did more than enough against the dogs.

he also played reasonably well yesterday and took an important mark on harry 'crap yourself when riewoldt is coming' obrien who runs like he has something pretuding out of u know where

Build a bridge son... and jump off it.

It's an absolute joke you to**ers are basing his game around stats whoopdy f**ken doo he got 6 touches, his pressure in the forward is vital and he is the reason we are still playing next week cos 110% guarantee no one else would of kicked that goal he did cos the whole f**ken side can't kick as good as leon so lay off him he will definately be in the side next week as for tyson goldsack what a f**ken joke his been SHITE every game i've seen this year cannot...i repeat CANNOT kick the footy good for nothing had 8 touches if you wanna talk about possesions against the cats and if you really think he will stop brendon goddard use are kidding yourselves. Also if collingwood could deliver better in the forward line next week then expect a bit more from Leon cos the delivery he got was absolute disgusting and is one of many reaons why he didn't have a great game. If goldsack comes in next week ill tear up my membership only change i would make is maybe presti if fit in for brown who did a reasonably good job on riewoldt, and medhurst in for blair juding on the fact that he had probably a shitter game than davis and besides medhurst is more experienced and will do a lot better on the big stage than blair.

u mad?

by the way , you were shit.

I TRIED to tell you all, that we'll lose if Leon plays. I wasn't exactly right, but I wasn't wrong either.
Davis was not the reason we didn't win. When Davis was at his worst, we were smashing St Kilda.

Claiming that selecting Davis means we won't win is a fairly simple view. So many other factors contributed to the draw. The weekend proved that Davis was poor once again, but claiming we can't win with him = laughable.

Is this all because you don't want to change your username when we offload him back to perth?

he is weak as piss this bloke, who does he think he is putting his tongue out and finger up saying he his number 1-more like number 44 on the field. disgraceful in big games and he wont touch it against us next week

also disgrace he got in AA team last year in front of Lecras! lecras wouldnt let leon wipe his ass

A St. Kilda supporter calling an opposition player a disgrace?? LOL... You must be kidding mate. Our coach got it right at Quarter time when we played you earlier this year...

And the rest of you west coasters and other low lifes can just go off and lick Lecras ass like dogs until the game next saturday. I dont think they should allow wooden spooners to walk around the forums unleashed. You dogs need to be spayed.

you must be shit at life

and you must be really good at making excuses- the delivery to Leon was disgusting, he's been injured since last September.
Stop embarrassing yourself and just retire, ffs :p

I don't think he is carrying an injury otherwise he wouldn't be playing also I do believe i kicked a spectacular goal that got the crowd at its loudest point.

That is the ONLY thing he did in the entire game though. He spent more time on the bench than any other player but Gardiner, and he got injured before half time!

You're obviously the #1 Davis fan, but you gotta face facts at some point, he was awful.

He was awful but no one in our squad would have done a better job. The way we played just didnt allow him any way into the game. If you had put Lockyer or Medurst in the exact same role that Davis played, they would have had less of an impact.

He looked as if he was getting it together in the last when the ball was at ground level alot more than the previous 3 quarters. Davis has to play this week as he is a danger at ground level.

Trying to tackle blokes in 3 on 1 situations is never going to work out well. He will be better next week, ill guarantee it!

Hmm good point about needing space - and OP's comments about why is he not played midfield anymore?? I've wondered this all year and whether he has a niggle that affects his volume of running. If not , seems to me he should be tried primarily as a mid, like in his AA year. Might bebe too late to risk playing him again, but if he is they have nothing to lose by trying him in the midfield whre he'll have that extra space - he can spin his magic in close, as long as it's not too close I guess...
Our game style now probably doesnt suit him as much. A lot more players in, and around the forward contests. Other players are doing the crumming work which is where he was dominating.

.......................

He plays a lot better with a bit of space, and allows him to do his magic.
Big games tend to be tighter, and so he doesn't get his space which is why I think he doesn't play well in those games........

Had Leon had some actual input when the game was in our favour, maybe we wouldn't have been in the position we ended up in.

Maybe if Leon had kicked a couple in the first half, the Saints wouldn't have been close enough to get that draw.

Everyone keeps going on about the game not suiting him, so had did Jarryd Blair manage to get a crumbing goal? I think he actually got 2, 1 which was disallowed.

People kick making excuses for Davis, and what worries me more? Malthouse keeps making excuses for him.

The problem with now dubbing Davis a definitive grand final dud who is simply overawed by the occasion is the when and how of his one goal on Saturday.

The time, eight minutes into a deadlocked final term with Collingwood only eight points up, could not have been more critical. The execution could not have been more silky. Neither suggested a player too jittery to produce when it mattered.

In fact, while the goals of teammate Alan Didak in the first, and St Kilda's Lenny Hayes in the last, were outstanding set shots, it was Davis's ball-handling, ducking and weaving and snap around the corner which was arguably goal of the day.

First, he controlled in mid-air Leigh Brown's ambit tap in his general direction. Then he outbodied Sean Dempster while preparing to take the bouncing ball with one clean sweep of his left hand. He then turned inside Steven Baker, and outside a despairing Jason Gram, before snapping truly over his left shoulder when his teammates were missing from dead in front.

I know what you're trying to do there, but allow me to retort.

A player that doesn't run or touch the ball for 3 and a half quarters SHOULD be full of energy and have fresh legs to be able to pull that off opposed to players who were busting their guts for the previous 3 and a half quarters.

What Davis did then was the MINIMUM he owed us given his performance that day and almost every other final he's played in.

Yeah, I'm not entirely sold myself about Leon but I did like Rohan Connolly's take on it which was entirely neutral and considered.

Is it also a case, though, of poor matchday tactics? If Leon had been moved on-ball would that have made a difference? Give someone a breather in the middle and allow Leon some touch?

And, as has been mentioned ad-nauseum, he's no doubt been told to stick forward and attack ferociously when the ball gets inside the 50m arc, however since the ball rarely landed in the sweet spot between the 2 30° angles, it would be hard for Leon to actually crumb or pressure.

Jury's out. It seems like St Kilda disrupted our game plan and we didn't react well, meaning that Leon's role became ineffective. You have to remember that he's playing under strict instructions and if he decides to go solo he would be yanked immediately.

He had the second least time on ground, right after Gardiner. I'd suggest he got yanked already.

lol at this "it was Leon's fault for putting us in this position". Maybe if Thomas registered a score, rather than nothing from a Davis handball which should have been an assist we would have won the game. Maybe if Cloke had registered at least one goal from two attempts in the second qtr (all very gettable) we would have gone away with it. Maybe if Dawesy knew his limitations and stopped having set shots from outside his kicking range 55m+ (that dropped short) maybe we could have won. Maybe if Steele showed a little more composure in the dying minutes instead of hurrying a shot on goal that dropped short and was marked by Gwilt we could have won. If only Jarryd Blair had drilled the goal from 30m out directly in front, we could have won.

Sure, Leon was well down on output, however, he did something that nobody else did when the game was in the balance and we were crying out for someone to do something- kicked an amazing goal (our first for the second half!)

Leon must play for mine because we don't have anyone else that can play the small forward role. You need genuine X-factor in big games and he offers us this, even if he does it once or twice for the entire match.

I have only been just able to open the lid on this dribble machine, after the game on the weekend.

Some of you blokes must be on some kind of love drug for Leon. He didn't win us the match and he didn't lose the match, he did **** all and did very little to contribute to both.

I was a very keen fan of the Igniter, but enough is enough, imo he is a spent force, has had an average year and "gone missing" AGAIN at the pointy end. Everyone always spouts on about Mick liking big game players, it's time to pass on Leon Mick, he's is quite clearly not a player for the big stage.

I thought we played right into the Saints hands, we didn't damage from the half back line, we didn't keep the ball inside our 50 and we didn't pressure enough all over the park, i'm not saying these things didn't happen at all, but it was not the Collingwood game plan i have watched all year. It looked like we were trying to shut the Sainters down after half time instead of playing our game and blowing them away.

I'm no AFL coach, but if Leon plays again next week, i for one will be bitterly disapointed. I thought he shouldn't have been picked this week, he got a chance he didn't take it, time to hang the boots up mate, you've been a great player but it's time to retire.

If your aunty had balls she would be your uncle mate.
