Leppitsch
  • didn't have a problem with the Lions' process used to inform him and the players of his removal. Understood why they did what they did.
  • has no evidence that the AFL were involved in any way with his removal
  • not disappointed with Rockliff and said he has a great passion for the club
  • Brisbane are a transient club in relation to list management. (lot of youngsters coming into the club)
  • Leigh Matthews is a fantastic influence on the club
  • plenty of phone calls from players and staff since Monday including Tom Rockliff and Greg Swann. Also spoken to Michael Voss.
  • shift in decision making by the club over the past month.
  • everything he did for the club was to eventually set up for the next premiership and there is a way to go. Believes he has done the right thing for the club in terms of list management
  • the club has been playing catch up since 2005-06 since the retirement of much of its premiership list
  • would have liked to be at the helm for Phase 2 of his overall vision. Phase 1 had been completed.
  • no issue with any of the players including Pearce Hanley
  • has no doubt that some of his leaders have had thoughts of playing elsewhere at successful clubs
  • sacking will not taint his view of, or relationship with, the Brisbane Lions.
  • believes the Lions need a fair bit of help in a number of areas. Not easy retaining players in Queensland (mentioned the Suns) and believes he's done a good job in helping Brisbane retain players
  • hasn't made a decision about future pathway including whether he wants to be a senior coach.

Just watched Leppa's interview, as a few have stated all class. Whether you are a believer or not this bloke has done your list proud.

Got really high hopes for you guys in the coming years and was super impressed by some of the home grown talent you drafted this year. I'd love Geelong to get their hands on Rhys Mathiseon who is a Jet but I honestly hope he stays with you guys for his career.

Any youngens coming up in the academy this year?

No,, initially looked promising, but they've all gone backwards this year..... pity. Same next year too.

Might not be the greatest snr coach, but Leppa is a top notch guy. Not sure many people could handle the disappointment of being sacked with such class. Although Vossy also handled himself well.

Loved how the panelists appeared to poke and prod for some type of controversy which was met by a perfectly eloquent cool calm forward defensive from Leppa. Like the true and loyal legend he is, throws himself to the wolves for the greater good of the Lions in such a tough time for the club.

And....That we need an experienced coach or a junior coach with a GM of Football...

Leppa could not have handled that any better, what a champion . Barrett is a $%&#+n sewer rat.
You watch he will come out and say s$&t like "I don't believe leppa with anything he said and he was masking his true emotions etc etc" than brayshaw will said something like "that's why you're the number 1 news breaker" while wanking off
