before I go any further, don't get me wrong, I love this kid

but it seems everytime he gets into the side his performance goes:

AFL: Great game

AFL: Good game

AFL: Crap game

WAFL: Alright game

WAFL: Great game

AFL: Great game

and so fourth

has anyone noticed this or is it just me? and yes i know he is young...

I actually think he's been surprisingly consistent given he has played half-back in a backline getting bent over week in, week out.

And, blokes like Embley insist on demanding the ball constantly when there are better users, aka Lewis, available in the area. That's gotta hurt a guys confidence when one of his best assets is over-ruled because senior players have misguided self-confidence in their own ability.

Do you really think this ever happens. Do you think a player is actually going to think Embley or Stevenson who should I give it to when they have the ball? Whoever has the ball will give it to the player who they think is in the best decision, which unfortunately usually happens to be the wrong 1

He has shown he has the skills, athleticism, and desire to make it as an AFL player. My worry with rookies is wether they kick on from that to become top line AFL players. Hopefully he remains injury free and becomes a really good HB for us.

I think the future success of this kid is contingent on whether he realizes that he isn't built like a 12 year old girl any more.

Once he puts his body on the line, he has all the attributes to succeed.

It will be very interesting to see where he sits come Round 1 2011 if we have a fit squad. IMO he is behind Hurn, Butler, Sheppard and Smith for the half back role, and behind Kerr, Priddis, Rosa, Swift, Shuey, Ebert, Masten for a midfield spot. He is untried at AFL level on a half-forward flank, so far.

He needs a big pre-season if is to leap frog a few blokes. He's had a taste now, but it isn't going to get any easier to hold a spot in the 22. We could really use his foot skills, though.

Yeah, he seemed very tentative last week, so he's either a bit ginger or not willing to get into it. Either way, week off should help. His skill are v.good, and I agree w/ OP, his performances at AFL have been a mixed bag.

He ha struggled in the last couple of weeks since they shifted him off HB and onto a wing. He has had to go get the ball instead of the ball coming to him. Hopefully McPhee will give him a run through the middle tomorrow.

Still worthy of a place in the team !

No he isn't.

Played a shocker on the weekend, and hasn't been in form for weeks.

It's time the match committee cut back the players turning the ball over and made them earn the the right to wear the blue and gold.

Stevenson will back in the future, and hopefully he'll demonstrate he has learnt from his mistakes which got him dropped.
