I was here for years reading before joining and posting ... and *then* discovered that the system remembered where you were up to ... I used to have a notepad in my pocket with the thread name in it and what page/post I was up to so I could find where I was up to each session ... so much easier just to click on a bold thread and (in those days) then on go to first unread!

Hey Viceragal,a peculiar thing,I don't think I've seen you "like" a post ?At least not one of mine, which is entirely understandable, but how many posts do you think you have "liked" ?

How many do I think I have liked - didn't have the faintest idea - looked it up - turned out to be 42 (which makes the 'like' on your post the meaning of life the universe and everything!) ... and you were correct that (until now) none of them referenced your posting (and your posting is certainly fine!).

Honestly would not have thought that my profile on here was such that my liking or not of posts would have been noted or even peep above that radar - just your bog average list clogger neither followed nor ignored and whose posting demise in the fullness of time would go unnoticed (unless some Mod ran a stat checker).

No particular reason why the lack of likes - it is certainly not because everyone's posts are boring or anything - looking at the ones I did like some are because they were just awesome (and often not about footy!) or struck me as funny at the time - mentally it is not because they are considered special and only to be applied to extraordinary posts (kind of like Aussie vs US re tipping) or because I have any moral objection or reluctance to click on the like button ... and honestly had never really thought about it ... maybe I just assumed that a 'like' from Viceregal would be pretty much a 'meh' thing to receive for anyone and didn't want to be annoying? Too bad we lost our board Phycho Psychologist I am sure he would have had some fun with that line!

In what way did you find it peculiar - is it outside of normal poster activity or was it something about *how* I post that would have led you to expect more likes or ... ?

I figure this is the best place to post this as it is sort of reflective/ general discussion about he forum etc.

I am hanging up the boots, officially.. I am sure I won't be missed, but I wanted to tip my cap.

Generally this forum has brought me a lot of joy and great discussion, thanks to everyone for the great convo.

Peace out.

Jeez, what is with all the drama queens lately "officially announcing they are no longer posting" to get the plaudits for their contribution to the board?:D If you are too busy/no longer interested/out of circulation so be it. When the time comes, have your say. One of the great maxims in life is don't burn your bridges.

Modern day posters Bunts, they want it all their own way, when they don't get what they want or realise they aren't as important as they thought they were, they bail. I am not willing to acknowledge any ''Go Home Factor". On a personal note, I would like to inform you all that I have decided to sign on with bigfooty for another 5 years, I thought at this stage of my posting career I needed to look long term!

I signed on for four years with the option of being traded to Fitzroy.

I take this to mean you're living in the past.

Of course not everyone would start a thread telling everyone how they've been around here longer than most... :p

Pfffftt.... it would never be that many!

More like this I'm guessing.
