Im hating that its almost over for another year

2010 GF, Pies are 4 points up with just seconds left. Dempster on a run down the wing kicks long, Jolly flies - the "Leo Barry" mark is his but his hammy rips and he goes down writhing in career ending pain. Schneider scoops it up, there's no time left so he bangs it on his boot in hope. The siren goes. Time seems to stand still. The crowd falls silent. Even the pie seller stops. The ball turns over and over in a strange slow motion corkscrew roll. You can feel the Saints fans willing it to go in. Now it starts to bend, slowly, slowly it bends back. A little patch of daylight can be seen between the ball and the post, so small the goal umpire strains to see it. He's sure it must hit the post, but somehow it doesn't. Somehow it clears a wall of magpies by inches as it wobbles through and bounces against the fence. The crowd erupts. Rossy Lyon streams across the field screaming with emotion. Dempster has picked up Schneider and lifted him onto his shoulders. They dance. They actually dance. All the while grinning like idiots. The whole team pile on top. The cup is theirs. The pies are vanquished. (And Milne the Rat is later found crushed to death under his own team)

Now that's gotta be better than the hated pies winning and Jolly the traitor lifting the cup. At least the Saints have 3 ex-Swans I like (even if they do have Milne - though he's been taken care of with a bit of poetic licence)

OK, I'm hijacking a nice thread to vent against the Pies. Sorry Soph.:eek:
 
Who's the third Swan the Saints have?

Fave moment would have to be either Jetta's first - although I missed it - or Hanners winning the Rising Star.

Heart breaking moment - watching the Swans lose the Semi Final, along with the Richmond, Melbourne and Hawthorn close losses that I had to sit through listening on the radio, refusing to go back to bed or get ready for work until they were finished.

Trolling Norf Melbourne in the Bay always gives me a smile. Melbourne's improvement. And of course, Barry Hall putting Scott Thompson in a headlock and nearly choking him. :p
