I think some you just have to get lucky. I was in Chinatown the other day and saw a new link with an empty bar pushing a trolley. He had enemies patrolling near him and I tried to wait for them to move but got too close. After the fight he had despawned and I always do a few laps every time I'm in the area but haven't seen him since ☹️

I had to look it up, turns out it's two of the most hidden cats ever, I was never gonna find it normally

The people friends, you can just bump into them eventually, it's the stupid cats
Had a feeling it'd be cats. The dogs and birds are fairly straight-forward to find. I've found a few that I very nearly missed.

They literally blend into a shelf that's hidden at a corner and you can only see them if you literally butt hump the shelf

Or they're hidden at a corner of some garage you'll never go to

I shouldn't be laughing at these but I can't help it. English speaking Japanese seem to also see the funny side. It must be how my in laws feel when they laugh at me when getting me to say Italian words when I refuse to put on an Italian accent to speak them.

There is no L sound in Japanese so they usually replace it with R but they also use R by tapping their tongue on the top of their mouth. So we get these sorts of memes

They had the JP voice actor say Danny Trejo's English lines in the JP voices, I don't get it, why not just use Trejo's voice?

That's like for Bryce where they used the JP VA to do the engrish English lines when he has a full American sounding VA for the English dub. Where as some minor characters like Roman they use a JP VA for the JP parts and Eng VA for english parts. It's so chaotic but I also love it. Meme material for years and puts "on the ruff" to the shame. I need to try it eventually but apparently english dub Richardson (can't remember his actual name) makes a "on the ruff" reference so RGG are pretty self aware.

Chapter 8 going to survive bar

OMG OMG IT'S REALLY KASHIWAGI!!!

For a while in previous games I just wondered if they were using Kashiwagi's model as an Easter egg. There were a few references that it could have been him, it's called Survive Bar and that program from Y3 I think it was? That was about helping Yakuza get out and lead normal lives. Kiryu had no reaction to the Richardson bartender at Revolve so I figured maybe it was just an Easter egg after all. But that acknowledgement and Kiryu bowing to his former captain.

That's awesome.

As an extension of this, the arms dealer

Is an example of what I thought was reusing characters as an Easter egg. Surely there is no way that's the real Kau Long, didn't he get shot in the head??

"You can now get a taxi to Kamurocho."

Don't mind if I do!

Those Tenkaichi Street feels!

I wanted to explore every inch but I was only low level 30s at the time and saw too many purple enemies around. Figured I'd go back later. Still milking Ijincho for everything it's worth and that I can do at about level 38 and have only just started nudging the story forward a few steps after my last few posts.

Some of those memory things hit you right in the feels. I don't want this to end. I might be still in denial but given the language from people like Nanba and the doctor at the hospital I'm convinced Kiryu's condition isn't terminal.

Oh man, I did not make this connection at all!

I was trying to think if they met during the events of Gaiden, but was wondering why they'd deny meeting.

I was anticipating this in Gaiden when Kiryu was going to the bar to meet Watase. If you remember back when Kiryu entered the bar someone else was tending the bar and said something like the owner is actually out at the moment. So there was already a deliberate point in the plot to avoid them meeting at that moment.

Kashiwagi is in hiding for very similar reasons to Kiryu and nobody in the gang know his true identity. I think Kiryu understands and respects that which is why he said he was mistaken when everyone thought they recognised each other.

I think Watase had visited that bar several times which is why he invited Kiryu there, but being Omi he probably wouldn't have ever crossed paths with just another captain of another Tojo family from 10+ years ago. So he simply wouldn't know who Kashiwagi is anyway.

So that makes Kashiwagi canon. Richardson is just fan service and after all he did fall from the top of the millennium tower lol. But then again it looks like Lau is in fact alive and canon too and I clearly recall him being shot in the head.

I also went back to Kamurocho and fully explored it and grabbed all the memories. I still have gaps in the log so I'm guessing more unlock later. That was so good. I think it's the first time Kamurocho has been fully unlocked in a Yakuza game (outside of Judgment) since 5? I recall in 6 for example that a large chunk was blocked off. Some people say Kamurocho has been done to death and it's time to move on. I disagree. Recalling the memories and just remembering my own travels through the streets in previous games I have so many of my own memories attached to parts. Name another game that has this amount of history attached to a single location. I also feel for anybody who may have only jumped in at Y7 LAD because they're going to have nooooo idea what all these memories, references and their significance are.

Yeh, I just never clued on that it was the same character model! Given the facial scar, it's pretty obvious, yet I was still oblivious.

I just met Chau, don't understand how he's survived. Kashiwagi is pushing it a little, but Lau is just too much given he was brained. Will also need to come back to take him on, he kept one shotting Saeko.

I really like the memories stuff, though the ones in Iljincho aren't as good. I did a chunk around Kamurocho, but was too under-levelled to get all of them. Feels like there's some throwbacks to other games like Ishin, haven't played that so not sure, but there's references to characters in a past life.

They can get away with Kashiwagi because unless I'm wrong then I don't remember actually seeing him die but we just presumed he did. Then they had that other thing with him in 3 or 4. So he gets a pass.

The Ishin stuff is pretty funny. Says it was a vivid dream. Also mentions the undead stuff in another as another dream lol

I did Dodo island again to get the trophy for 100 guests but don't see a reason to do it any more. Maybe to fully upgrade and furnish the house but that's it. The monetary reward needs to be a lot more for it to be worth while after a certain point in the game IMO.

What I'm debating at the moment is if I try and 100% Kiryu's unfinished business. I'm fine with maxing his awakening as I've already got it to 9, but I don't know if I've got it in me to spend hours credit feeding the arcade games or learning Shogi. Everything else I'm fine with.

Chapter 10 the first time you go to Survive Bar

Finally!! I've been after a meaningful cross over between Yakuza and Judgement, something more than just a reference to an event. Introducing Tsukumo and Sugiura as two local detectives was so cool. I know Yokohama is their office while Yagami and Kaito operate out of Kamurocho so it might be just the location, but I wonder if this hints at the future of Judgement maybe without Yagami? Kimura's management sound difficult.
