Lindsay Thomas is pathetic

Absolutely has to have a rest in the VFL.
Ross and Adams deserve a go and I am hoping like hell that one or both of them are named in next weeks line up.

If Campbell's hamstring does not come up this leaves the door open for another kid to step in.

Edwards in my view has to definitely replace Smith.
While I am hanging to see Adams back in the AFL too KL, I think he is at least 2 or 3 weeks away. He was good in patches on saturday night but needs that extra match fitness to step up to AFL level. He has missed a lot of football. He really only started competitive stuff midway through the practice matches.

Ross is a defenite if Campbell cant make it.

Yes I realise Adams does need more time in the seconds for fitness but when he is ready I will be excited to see him in the team.

He has such hunger, desperation and grunt so I hope when the time is right he gets picked.

Greenwood, Adams - grunt, hunger, desperation and courage.

Lindsay copped a knock to the head as well as the shoulder, yesterday. I know he plays for frees too often, and that's why; A) he doesn't get free kicks, and; B) we don't know when he really is hurt.

He played out the game with the pain due to Flash being out. Lindsay shouldn't ne dropped. He's very good. He should, however, be coached about not staging for frees that aren't there! Get up and play on!

I just can't believe this hasn't been done already.:confused::confused:

Don't know if it's been done, but it certainly hasn't stuck!

Lindsay has changed his run up for set shots, which has improved them dramatically. He's a young player with huge talent.

Which only goes to justifying dropping him.....it's not the end of the world ppl, it's a game in the VFL.

FFS people are acting like we are saying de-list him!!!

The Albino showed what a bit of enthusiasm a kid who is hungry can bring to the team, LT has been too comfortable for too long and needs a rocket.

For God's sake will ppl stop saying "but he's won us games off his own boot" so did F**king McAdam......where is he?

Drop him, hopefully then the message will sink in.

Spot on. It's not a death sentence, just a kick up the arse.

The thing that annoys me as well is that by staging for free kicks, he doesnt keep his feet and by doing this, this doesnt create any pressure and allows the opposition to have clear disposal.

When he staged for that free kick and made out he was hurt was 1 of the softest things ive seen a north player do and this shouldnt be tolerated.

He's an opportunist forward and that's it. Does nothing to create his own goals and just stands close enough to goal to get a couple after the hard work is done by other.

He can't kick, can't mark and can't win his own ball. So what exactly is he talented at? Even his acting is rubbish.

Its hard to dive and keep your feet.

Anyhow dropping him or telling him not to dive is the wrong approach I feel. Time to do something new. Maybe we should do the opposite and send him to acting school to learn to dive better?

I know that, but my concern is that if he keeps hisfeet and doesnt resort to diving he can maximise things like pressure, tackling and presenting another option.

By diving its a free kick or nothing.

Calling him soft is just stupidity! Boomer used to be famous for taking dives and it took him a long tie to get over that reputation and start getting piaid frees. We also did NOT drop Boomer.

It's one part of his game that needs improvement FFS! If he was soft, he wouldn't have the tackle count that he does, nor would he fly in so many contests against bigger players.

He has been better than Flash to this point in the season and is a year younger.

Just another one of the players that seems to draw the ire of BF people!

Thats rubbish...are you his sister????

he's soft because he doesn't win the ball. He has a high tackle count because he doesn't win the ball. He dives because he doesn't win the ball. He's flyes for pack marks because he can't win the ball. He's rubbish one on one in marking contest becuase he can't win the ball. He's an outside player that gets fed easy goals and that is it. He's not quick, doesn't have skill and doesn't have a heart.

where oh where is this so called talent you speak of? Time to give someone else a go. If Ross was told to stand in the goal square when we have the ball, or chase when we don't, he'd kick his two a game. I want forwards offering more than that...plus have the potential to play midfield.

Oooookay.

Anyways....

Anyhow dropping him or telling him not to dive is the wrong approach I feel. Time to do something new. Maybe we should do the opposite and send him to acting school to learn to dive better?

I like it.

For God's sake will ppl stop saying "but he's won us games off his own boot" so did F**king McAdam......where is he?

Is the comparison with McAdam valid? Thought he was renowned as a beautiful kick of the football ...

The charge against McAdam is obviously that he was soft, but I wasn't astute enough to see it at the time (also only saw the games they showed on TV plus a couple live). Can someone elaborate on his alleged softness. Was it squibbing contests? not chasing? staging?

So he was a favourite of mine - the way he burst onto the scene as part of the excitement of 93. That game against Collingwood was unbelievable. Also remember him slotting an absolute crucial goal from about 55 in the 94 final v Hawks.

68 goals in his debut season, can't really remember now how he got them, but surely he had way more talent than Thommo.

(Back to the Thomas staging, he's a rare talent - I reckon he is able to look at the umpire on the way down. But having said that, rightly or wrongly, I can't bring myself to believe that he wasn't hurt on Sunday. That would be taking it to a never before seen level. Could there have been prior contact that was a trigger to the actual incident? Or maybe I'm falling for a case of the bigger the lie.)

I'm a big fan off Thomas, and he's not soft and does do the hard stuff. The one flaw is he's just got to stop the staging. He just needs to play like the umps aren' even out there and take the frees when they come. He's got enough going for him that he doesn't need the free kicks just needs to rely on his ability.:thumbsu:

On 1993 alone, there is NO comparison. McAdam was THE MAN that year, and lauded by all for his freakish talent.

I saw him interviewed a week or two ago on "The Marngrook Footy Show" where he was asked what on earth happened between '93 and '94 for him to end up being traded to the Pies, and subsequently ending his career prematurely.

He basically said he loved his time with North and that he simply wasn't mature enough to recognise the hard work he should've been putting in during the off season. That cost him bigtiime and before he knew it he was with Collingwood, which he hated. So, he packed up and headed back to Alice Springs.

During '93 though, that guy was an absolute freak. Soft? I wouldn't say that. He wasn't an "in and under" type of course, but more like a freaky Steve Johnson type, and a very difficult matchup, for the one year.

IMO Thomas has done very little to YET compare with McAdam's year of glory!

He played alright in the first quarter, that's the problem with him.... very inconsistent and just loses total concentration after playing a good quarter of footy. Sadly i think that it will be like this for the majority of his career but in saying that i do see a lot of upside and natural progression in Lindsay, i just hope that he pulls his finger out of his arse and gets more hungry at the contest....... get to more contests.... stop arguing with umpires....
He reminds me of Ronnie Burns, no opposite foot and is capable of brilliant things but his head is in the sky a lot of the time and lacks discipline.
I hope he comes out and kicks 5 this week v tigers and kickstarts his season :thumbsu:

McAdam was kicking bags - 10 goals at PP and 9 at Victoria Park in the same forward line as:

Carey
Longmire (pre-knee)
Roberts
Allison

North almost had 2 guys kick 10 in McAdam's 2nd game, Longmire kicked 9.

North also got close to the record that day at PP, 3 quarters of 10 goals or more. Between the 4 goal second quarter and 10.9 in the last we fell 10 points short.
