What makes Havana Harris better then Ash Centra?
Versatility and point of difference.

Harris = 182cm, can play Ruck, Mid, KPF, 3.20sec 20m
Centra = 176cm, Mid, KPF, elite field kick but not great shot at goal

Both are great. I would take the one who fully commits to Collingwood. (i.e. no go home factor, chasing $$, etc.)

With Violet Patterson F&D tied to us at 169cm midfield I would go with the speed and height of Harris as a point of difference to Patterson but either of Harris or Centra would be great.

I would also note that if Harris chooses to remain with Gold Coast that we should look to swap with GCS for their first pick as they can match Harris with a bid "within 18 picks".

Pick 1 - Collingwood
Pick 2 - GCS

If we bid on Harris @ Pick 1 GCS would have to use Pick 2.
If we swap (say our future 1st) with GCS for Pick 2 with the promise of not picking Harris we get Centra and Fish and GCS get Harris and a future 1st while only using pick 20.

Does the aflw have pick trading?

Does the aflw have pick trading?
Yes, we traded Picks 11 and 29 last year to Richmond for Pick 9.

Unsure on future pick trading at this point (TBC by AFLW).

The AFLW already know if Harris will be available to us but they havn't notified the public:
"an AFLW Club must submit a Northern Academy nomination form to the AFL by Monday 18th November 2024"

I'd be quite happy with Central. We can use her in multiple positions, even if it means swapping her around with another mid and alt between mid and forward. She would add something unique to our side that we don't have.

#2
Ash Centra

Midfielder-Forward
height: 176cm
D.O.B: 02-06-2006

The clear standout Victorian coming into the year and genuine pick one prospect, Centra is almost certainly set to be the first name read out on draft night barring a bid from the Magpies on Harris. Either way, she is the best available non-club tied player and is a natural footballer to boot. She boasts elite skills, vision and decision making, and finds the ball with ease wherever she plays. Arguably the best kick in not only the draft crop, but likely the AFLW when she gets there.
Given Collingwood holds the number one pick, expect her to be in black and white unless trades take place.

Violet at #30 would be a great result. If we can get 2 players in (trades pending) before a bid.

#30
Violet Patterson

Midfielder
height: 169cm
D.O.B: 09-01-2006

Another player who missed out on a National Draft Combine invite which was perhaps a touch surprising, but is club-tied with the Magpies in a great position to secure her. Patterson is as competitive as they come, with elite defensive traits, great footy smarts and can play inside and outside. Character-wise, few will come with bigger wraps from anyone who is involved in her football, and no doubt the black and whites should be able to match with no earlier than their third round selection.

If we get a 2nd round pick, this girl would be handy. We do need some height down forward,

#19

Georgie Brisbane

Eastern Ranges
Tall Forward

height: 175cm
D.O.B: 13-12-2006

What a year it has been for the Vic Metro co-captain, who after a strong bottom-age campaign had a little bit of a slow start for the Ranges. Once she got going through, there was no stopping Brisbane, who booted five goals against the Allies and consistently looked like a threat inside 50. While her hands and goalkicking standout as traits, she has a high-level endurance base which is rare for key forwards so expect that to be a huge factor in clubs considering her for the elite level.

I was told we'll pick Centra, apparantely are trading for someone maybe with our 2nd pick, but hopefully we get something back, and then obviously got Violet.

Would prefer we leave the trading alone this year, focus on the draft. Need to add pace and skill. Have a look at who we traded in last year next season and reset after that.

That would be my preference too. Guess we'll see who the player is. Hopefully something cheap then.
We were linked to that girl from the hawks.

Yes unless they are young.

I know Sydney are chasing Charlie Rowbottom but there were rumours of a big Victorian club also chasing her.
If someone of her quality was available you would have to at least ask some questions.

She's someone that would cost our #1 pick
No thank you. Contested ball winner. but not sure we need another slow mid.

With Harris going to Suns Centra is the Obvious Decision

Could be the Hawks kids that was Mentioned a few weeks back?

Yeah Gold Coast have won her over. They're going to be a busy club though, will nominate their five top players with only five list spots (as of now) so a good chance for another club to poach one or more of them if the Suns don't trade more picks in.

I'd rather keep the second pick and trade a player, especially given it is still 19. Though perhaps there might be more trades done.

Yeah, I'd prefer to keep that pick too. Will be interesting if we have players that will ask for trades, could produce some picks.

Do you know if they have AFLW NGA programs like the mens? Just hadn't heard if that was a thing.

Nah like the clubs kinda have them but not bidding or anything.

Yeah my daughter is on a 'watch list' with one of them.
Won't say which one....just that its not the pies.
Nothing that ties the kids to them in any draft sense (yet).
Just a great initiative to help them learn the game and get better.

Its certainly come a long way in recent years.

Wouldn't even offer pick 19. If they clearly havent offered her a contract.

Collingwood has a significant draft hand to potentially lure Harris, given it has picks No.1 and 19 to start this year's first ever national AFLW draft, and has recently been scouring the market to land a key forward as its highest priority later this year.

However, should they ultimately be successful in steering Harris away from the Demons, the Pies are considered extremely unlikely to make the coveted No.1 pick available in a trade.

Suppose makes sense since we delisted Fowler.

A delisted free agency signing sounds good to me tbh.

That would be preferrable.
Harris should choose the hawks, they probably are more attractive if she wants a flag. I get the incentive to want a key forward. but where we are at and the cost, don't think it'll be worth it.

Should cost us nothing then

They don't want her
