Well Judd had his chance but blew it and went to Carlton, biggest mistake of his career.

WCE would never have accepted just pick 12 and a player, anyway. Which was just as well for us in the end - imagine missing out on this guy...

It's because gws want him badly as he is from nsw. I'm sure they keep making him an offer until the door closes.
Why? What difference does it make? And how do you know about offers?

GWS could have had Suckers, but didn't do much to get him.

People put far too much stock in the 'local boy' factor. Punky has been with us for too many years to have 'home' play much of a part.

That said, I wouldn't begrudge him a retirement fund sometime in the future.

Exactly this.
And he's at Hawthorn with his mate, Isaac Smith, who's also from that part of NSW.

And Breust is likely to get pretty decent money from the Hawks on his next contract. He won't necessarily get AFL-boosted Sydney/GWS cash, but I'm sure he'll be looked after pretty well.

.
This is correct and I know for a fact he doesn't want to play anywhere else.

The other one people put too much stock in is what club the player supported as a kid. It really has zero effect on where a player ends up.

Because Breust is a star and from nsw. It's the perfect combination for their marketing team. They have been into him for years.

Would Hartung also take on players like Changa did in the 2004 Line in the Sand game?

Bateman was epic in that game - quite happy to smash the Sc*m!

;)

Should've swang the arm harder.

This is why I threw up the hypothetical. GWS have chased him in the past and with Johnson planning to retire at the end of the year they may look to find a replacement. Nothing to do with location, more to do with history.

They have green who is superior to both
