Still not worth $900 per game. Only the GFL elite would be up around that figure and he certainly would not be on the top shelf. GFL club would want to think long and hard before paying a backman $900 to start off with anyway.
if he didn't miss training sessions nearly every second night he'd be in the elite for sure

Understand his position to a certain extent but it's a pity some players can't go out and make their own future happen and need to rely on local footy clubs to get their life in order. The amount of players who you try and recruit who ask for not only match payments but jobs as well is unbelieveable.
i think u should go easy on the man there..he was an AFL listed player until the age of 25. Football was his career..its quite understandable that the man hasnt been able to become qualified!

I think it is quite timely to bring up the issue of ground condition. With th season fast approaching and pre season training getting underway i was interested in knowing the condition of local football grounds.

While i dont think it is as bad as last year due to measures a lot of clubs have taken i fell there may still be grounds not up to scratch.

I just drove past Blue West and their ground is not in good nick. But am i right in saying they are playing at the Western Oval this year.

I know Geelong Amateurs ground at Queens Park has been re-sown in Santa Ana Couch and is fast becoming in mint condition , should be perfect by round 1. And i know St Marys ground had the same thing done to it but it was a bit later. So it may stil be a bit patchy.

So does anyone have some ground reports from around the Geelong area.

I have been told South Barwon have signed 4 new players, 2 being x Richmond players friends of the Corigans brothers, so we will have to keep an eye on wether its true or not.

who else here is just well and truly over south barwons domination, three flags in a row and they still clearly have superior funds to every other team with the recruits they keep adding every year. the gfl is becoming boring as no-one can compete with the bought players at mcdonalds reserve. Love to, but cant see anyone beating them again this year:thumbsdown:

Well its up to the other clubs to lift to their standard. Clubs such as Bell Park and West Saints look to be trying to do that. By upping the ante South Barwon are only making the league better.

Plus noone is unbeatable. I am sure there areplenty of GFL clubs who think they can win it.

Keep your eye on the Roosters this year. They only played Sth Barwon once last year and beat them convincingly with still a couple of players out. This year they have only lost their out of form ruckman and added Chambers, Wilde as a permanent pocket and a gun on-baller from Warrnambool. West match up very well on the Swans. The Roosters height will worry a lot of sides this year with Chambers, Wilde, Saunders, Jago and Flanders.

Just a quick note that official clearances open today club websites and football geelong site are the places to look for all official transfers.

Maybe now we can start talking fact about who is going where not just speculating.

.

Yes, you'd be right...they open the GDFL season on 04/04 against the reigning premiers under lights

I think Sth Barwon play there cards underneath the table not on top. Maybe other clubs should do that and it might even out a tiny bit.

Jackson Bolton to Modda?? Didn't he bail on Leopold last season cos "he just wanted to have a kick with his mates at Simpson"??

Back page story in the Addy about how it was going to be his last season of footy because of career ending shoulder problems.

Clearance from Simpson has been lodged.

Some reasonably big names heading down Ammos way this year. They are:

Travis ROBERTSON
Daniel GUINANE
Nathan BROMLEY
Damien ZAPARENKOV
David MITCHELL
Nathan REID

We all know Travis Robertson is class probably at centre half back.

But former Werribee star David Mitchell will slot in at full forward. Guinane will help out Lindsay Smith in the ruck to form a great combo.

Dont know to much about the others but i think they are all pretty good players. Any details on them would be good.

Look out for the Ammos this year.

Nathan Reid should play chf...this is his second stint at Ammos...was there around 2002-2003

Thats not true, i played there then and he definantly wasnt a playing there.
If Mitchell plays FF all year, he will kick 150. I saw a lot of Werribee games during his time there and I can't see anyone in the BFL stopping him if he gets the delivery. He is also one of the best kicks at goal you would ever see.

Wasn't Damien ZAPARENKOV down at the falcons, then at werribee when he was 19-22? He wouldn't be that old, what happened to his form slump? Havn't seen or heard of him for a few years.

played at north shore the last few years. consistent but didnt set the world on fire. might not be stayin at ammos though, word has it he wants to go to bell post hill to play with his mate grgic.
