Universal Love LOL, WE'RE TERRIBLE AGAIN

Commiserating is all well and good, but I'd be surprised if you're still in the top 8 at the end of the season. Might just cling on with a good start. You beat the baby Suns by a point, then the Bombers who you caught at a good time, lost to a wildly inconsistent Freo side, just got home against a depleted Hawks and then gave our band of muppets a dusting up. Its nice and all to be coming in here and saying chin up, but your team is nothing special or indeed even average, which I'm sure you'll find out soon enough when you start playing against some decent sides.

Sure, we may not be any good and we could just be riding a bit of luck, but what I can definitely say is that the way we are playing is a massive difference to last year. Even if we'd lost every single game this year, we are miles ahead of where we were last year - fumbly, easy to score against, lacking a good game plan and unfit - to the point where I actually want to watch us play rather than having a bit of a look on the telly and going and doing something else from half time onwards because it's just that bad to watch

We'll find out in the next month where we are (we have Adelaide, GWS, West Coast and GWS), but again, I think we will be at least better to watch and much more competitive in those games, and I'm cautiously optimistic about where we're going

Garlett, Jones, Lewis, Jetta and Hibberd look to have all hit the wall. I just don't see the young cattle. Baker looks meh as **** in the reserves tbh. That's it...

This is gonna be a 2 or 3 draft process to fix this list I think
Jones was best on last week. Jetta is still the best one on one small defender in the comp. Agree hibberd has been garbage for 18 months, Lewis is 45 years old but still massive with the runner rule and jeffy can’t get a run for whatever reason. Give it a rest with retiring lads

that's all well and good if you're winning. but the fact is we are getting easily beaten. and getting easily beaten doesn't bode well for old or slow guys in your team no matter which way you try to bend it.

Not anymore. A shadow of his former self unfortunately. I'm not sure if he's carrying a niggle, or if the structures are so bad he has no idea wtf he's doing, or if he's just lost the hunger(and a yard of pace). Him and Hibberd look miles off it.

We are 1-4 almost to be 1-5. Can't give people pass marks anymore for 1 out of 5 games played well. Jones does look over the hill, doesn't break tackles any more and is fumbling alot more.
Jetta hasn't won a single contest this year. When you are 29 you can't put in a bad year

The mystifying thing is the calibre of the list.
On paper, it's a quality list.

Is it?

We dont have a single good small forward on the list at the moment
We dont have a single good winger/outside midfielder on the list
We do have a very one paced one dimensional inside midfield
We have one good intercept marker whos out with an ACL
We have no legspeed, Hunt is the only player

Last year was the peak for that group of players in its current form.

Maybe i’m being naive, but I think it’s alot to do with game plan. We’ve persisted with the purely inside contested game plan, forward press and high defensive line. The tigers 2017 blueprint. Has anyone played that way this year and won? Fleet footed, soft sides seem to be having success.

The coaches need to swallow their pride and analyse what is in front of them.

Too late for this season, so train something new (if they can) and start looking to bring in a couple of fresh faced talented kids to help the group reload for 2020.

Bring back the blazers, trumpeter and flag raising ceremony.
We sucked but behaved like entitled w***ers.
Good times.
Especially the guy that plays the trumpet on the top tier of the Southern Stand when were on our way to a very very Win (which like then and currently, we never saw to many of) followed by over celebrating the little wins

Hey, If what were being told, that the playing group hasn't ever watched the Horrid outing that was our PF,
then how the **** are the playing group going to learn from that experience? Thats all it is, experience which the only people right now that have it are Lever and Lewis.
When Goody says "internally we haven't watched it", i think thats bullshit, because as an elite sporting organisation typically you would watch you're reviews, win lose or draw. (Ive lost Grand Finals before, but we know exactly why we lost it.)
It will hurt, but we're not going to go anywhere if we cant find our deficiencies and pinpoint the areas to get better.
Unrealted but we don know we need more outside run. We have needed outside Run for the last 5 years

You're right, but the issue is we have constructed a list around having "strong, contested ball winners" so even if we wanted to change up the game plan, there's not a lot of variation available. About the only thing we can try is to run with a smaller forward line, or else we're throwing 18/19 year old kids in and hoping that they can hold their own and provide something different to the more experienced players.

1. I stand by my comment after round 3 that our 2012 side would have a shot against this side, maybe a 3/10 chance (although listening to beaner talk about Neeld was histerical)

2. We really need to hire a coach

Random: Rohan bail I think was the player I thought was all right

At least Hogan had 20 and 3 again yesterday and against a top team.

Pity he was wearing Freo colors when he did it.

Oh well at least we have a gun KPD we traded in for Hogan.

Pity he turned up to pre season fat. Got suspended and hasn't really played for us

This back and forth on Hogan is getting ****ing annoying. He was suspended round 1, shit round 2-4 but one good game makes him the saviour again.

He wanted to ****ing leave. Simple.

Stop trying to declare anything after 5 ****ing games.

It’s not so much that hes gone even through the club had no one to replace him other than our CHB and a bloke with 3 ok games under his belt, its more the fact they got taken to the ****ing cleaners by Freo and GC in the space of half an hour. They must be pissing themselves, GC even got KK out of the building at the same time

Back to my comfortable place, where expectations are zero and anything above that is a bonus.

Doesn't really compare to '98-'99 or 06'-07' because the age profile (cliche) is so much more in our favour now. I'm hoping for a Richmond 16-17 style off-season decimation of the assistant coach ranks that somehow fixes everything.
