SFL Regional League in Tas, Kermandie to Triabunna would be pushing 180km or so each way (2 hours drive). Not good for the uunder 17's starting at 9:30!!!

When Yea were in the Kyabram League, the boys from Tallygaroopna (15kms north of Shepparton), went at least a 220k round trip to play Yea, even at Murch, it was a pain in the arse, but even now in the Picola League Tungamah to Deniliquin would be a fair hike, and the Central Goulburn's just as bad for Shepparton East when they have to play Thornton/Eildon, Alexandra etc.

But, Mansfield playing Echuca in the Goulburn Valley League would be around 160kms one way (380 round trip), and it's only 30k's less to go to Rochester.

But, when Parkside play Kinglake, in the DVFL, it's around 100ks round trip, which isn't bad but the road to get there is bloody ordinary in Winter.

When Panton Hill played Powelltown in the Yarra Valley Mountain District League, we would have travelled 80k's to get there, but when Kinglake were in the comp (1990-1995). add another 20-30k's to that.
Wrong thread i think buddy, you haven't mentioned any long trips there!!
Most team in the bush do those sort of trips weekly.

Oh well at least shep east dont have to worry about going to Yea. They just have to go to Deni now. Which reminds me. We use to worry about playing deni in deni but not at home cause the boys from the Juvenile centre were allowed to play home games...this may have been a rumour but the deni boys always seemed a little crazier.

St Johns OC (Dandenong) played Rupertswood and Werribee in D3 of the Amo's last year. Not quite Cerberus vs Brooklyn, but still a long way to travel to play football without being paid. In the country, Wonthaggi vs Maffra or Sale is a fair hike. Same league, Warrragul used to play Bairnsdale, bit rough if you were playing 3rds.

WGLFL - Garfield to Maffra

Yeah, Wonthaggi to Maffra would have to be at least 200km each way, if not a fair bit more.

I can't remember if Bairnsdale was still in the league when Wonthaggi joined. That would have been rough on the thirds.

Or Maffra to Garfield now...

2 hour trip.. 150Kms..

Since Garfield's ground is being renovated and they're playing their home games at Nar Nar Goon, add another 15kms

Speaking of Garfield, i heard they were looking at joining Casay-Cardinia FNL next season replacing Dingley who are off to Southern FL

In AFL Canberra, all Canberra clubs have to travel to sydney sometimes twice to play the swans reserves. Plus we also travel to Wagga once or twice a year.
Sydney around 400kms (800 round trip)
Wagga around 350kms (700 round trip)

I think we may have a winner. Early 1980's, Hay (NSW) and Mansfield (VIC) were both in the now defunct Tungamah League.

According to whereis.com.au thats a 404.94km one way trip.

Worst ones I personally travelled were:

Yarrawonga to Myrtleford - 103 kms one way
Tungamah to Alexandra - 158 kms one way
Tungamah to Mansfield - 111 kms - one way

All of the above played on freezing cold (icy snow cold), muddy blue green algae affected cess pits.

Kilmore to Mt Eliza - 128 kms one way

Play Masters/Supers footy, we travel from Werribee to Kerang. Takes 3 1/2 - 4 hrs to drive.

We are playing there tomorrow, funny how kerang never travel to Werribee to play, the last they forfeited. How going there sh*t trip, last time we played them they beat us 4 hrs ravel to cop a beating.

The joys Masters/Supers in the country league, we should join the city league
