Wrong thread i think buddy, you haven't mentioned any long trips there!!Wayde Petersen said:When Yea were in the Kyabram League, the boys from Tallygaroopna (15kms north of Shepparton), went at least a 220k round trip to play Yea, even at Murch, it was a pain in the arse, but even now in the Picola League Tungamah to Deniliquin would be a fair hike, and the Central Goulburn's just as bad for Shepparton East when they have to play Thornton/Eildon, Alexandra etc.
But, Mansfield playing Echuca in the Goulburn Valley League would be around 160kms one way (380 round trip), and it's only 30k's less to go to Rochester.
But, when Parkside play Kinglake, in the DVFL, it's around 100ks round trip, which isn't bad but the road to get there is bloody ordinary in Winter.
When Panton Hill played Powelltown in the Yarra Valley Mountain District League, we would have travelled 80k's to get there, but when Kinglake were in the comp (1990-1995). add another 20-30k's to that.
160k one way 380 round trip? is it up hill both ways as well ?Wayde Petersen said:When Yea were in the Kyabram League, the boys from Tallygaroopna (15kms north of Shepparton), went at least a 220k round trip to play Yea, even at Murch, it was a pain in the arse, but even now in the Picola League Tungamah to Deniliquin would be a fair hike, and the Central Goulburn's just as bad for Shepparton East when they have to play Thornton/Eildon, Alexandra etc.

Not quite Cerberus vs Brooklyn, but still a long way to travel to play football without being paid. In the country, Wonthaggi vs Maffra or Sale is a fair hike. Same league, Warrragul used to play Bairnsdale, bit rough if you were playing 3rds.
Richoagain said:Yeah, Wonthaggi to Maffra would have to be at least 200km each way, if not a fair bit more.
I can't remember if Bairnsdale was still in the league when Wonthaggi joined. That would have been rough on the thirds.
Speaking of Garfield, i heard they were looking at joining Casay-Cardinia FNL next season replacing Dingley who are off to Southern FLjcraw1 said:Or Maffra to Garfield now...
2 hour trip.. 150Kms..
Since Garfield's ground is being renovated and they're playing their home games at Nar Nar Goon, add another 15kms
Not sure about the wiiner Lidge, best look at cobar V hilstonLidge said:I think we may have a winner. Early 1980's, Hay (NSW) and Mansfield (VIC) were both in the now defunct Tungamah League.
According to whereis.com.au thats a 404.94km one way trip.
Worst ones I personally travelled were:
Yarrawonga to Myrtleford - 103 kms one way
Tungamah to Alexandra - 158 kms one way
Tungamah to Mansfield - 111 kms - one way
All of the above played on freezing cold (icy snow cold), muddy blue green algae affected cess pits.
Kilmore to Mt Eliza - 128 kms one way
