Re: Rams Hire Steve Spagnuolo as HC

Thats the news i didnt want to wake up to this morning! I was So hoping they would take Garrett off our hands and now the coaching saga continues. It will be interesting to see how this affects whats going on in Dallas. Good signing though by the Rams and i think they picked a worthy candidate.

Re: Rams Hire Steve Spagnuolo as HC

I don't reckon it will change much of what's going on in Dallas at all.

That is of course unless JJ has been given a course in how to run a franchise from someone other than Al Davis.

Re: Cowboys OC Garrett rumored as St Louis HC

So what happens to Garrett now that he didn't get the St.Louis job?

One would think he's on the outer at Dallas after the whole "me or TO" rumours that were circulating.

No doubt Garrett could be humming "Beds Are Burning" after the alleged 'TO or me' bust up.

On the flipside, if he gets a gig elsewhere, he can start fresh and still hum along to another Oils classic >> 'Forgotten Years' << . :p

Re: Rams Hire Steve Spagnuolo as HC

This will be great, we have good potential with our defence and only need a few patch up jobs. One good draft and a decent FA signing or two and we could win our division :D.

Though I am still wondering how Garrett even made it this far in the process.

Rams Up For Sale - Bye Bye St Louis?

From: http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/sp...E76D1319278A6843862575C70010D605?OpenDocument

Summary for those too lazy to read;
Chip Rosenbloom and Lucia Rodriguez inherited a majority share in the team, tried to sell the team to someone that wants to keep it in St Louis, no buyers. Still eager to sell the team, they are allowing buyers from 'out-of-town' buyers.

-----
This means the Rams could be scooped up by out-of-town buyers.

And that's a dramatic — and potentially ominous — development, given the Rams' shaky lease at the Edward Jones Dome.
-----

So does this mean they are going to move back to LA? Perhaps Las Vegas or somewhere completely different. As a Rams fan, I am loyal to the franchise, not the city. Prefer to stay somewhere near the West Coast so we can stay in the NFC West.

Re: Rams Up For Sale - Bye Bye St Louis?

Hmmmm, struggling small market team for sale... what do you all reckon we pass round the collection plate and see if we can make em an offer??

Couldn't be worth that much... or maybe we could buy them and offer it as a prize for AE??:D

Re: Rams Up For Sale - Bye Bye St Louis?

LA Rams would seem the go, can keep them in the NFCW too.

Seems a bit too logical for the NFL though. That's why I said Las Vegas, conquer a market another league is trying take.

Re: Rams Up For Sale - Bye Bye St Louis?

LV would be interesting.
Just think LA because that dude who wants to build the stadium is looking for a team ready to move, and the stadium can begin construction.
The City of LA is wanting an NFL team, willing to contribute $$M to it all.
And he wants to buy a share of whatever team does move....Rams up for sale now. So you have a match made in heaven.

Re: Rams Up For Sale - Bye Bye St Louis?

Well it is the best chance he'll get for another few years. They are affordable (Rams are in horrible form, one of the poorer teams in the league, desperate for buyers, already have a fan base in LA and only selling 60% of the team. I don't know but it seems to logical and is likely going to sell to someone who wants the team to have more of an international flavour.

Re: Rams Up For Sale - Bye Bye St Louis?

LA would be the answer to all that. International appeal. 2nd biggest city in the US. Home-coming for the Rams. Have a part-buyer and world-class stadium ready to go (look how hard it is for so many other teams to try to even convince their own cities to fund a stadium), and that stadium will bookmark the city and the Rams to host the Superbowl there straight away (next available).

Re: Rams Up For Sale - Bye Bye St Louis?

Forget Vegas guys. Haven't you all heard that there are plenty homeless there... economy has crashed thru the floor and besides it's a gambling state... can't see that happening whatsoever.

San Antonio maybe? LA may have the big wigs required to buy but are they really eager to bring 'em back?? I'd hate to see that franchise dissolve if things don't materalise. Spagnolo has the world on his shoulders it seems.

Re: Rams Up For Sale - Bye Bye St Louis?

it's surprising that st louis isnt regarded as a viable proposition in a greater metropolitan area of near 3m pop. granted, the population of the city itself has declined over much over the 20th century, and the socio-economic standing of many of the city's citizens is well-known to be at the lower end of the spectrum. i guess people simply dont think of an A-rated investment when they think of St Louis.

although regarded as a western team in the NFL, and the city itself regarded as the historical gateway to the west, this is hardly relevant in the 21st century and it in terms of its geographical loaction. to me, a st louis team in a western division has left it in a virtual no-mans land. although the rams franchise has a history within the div, its real and only rivalry is against the 49ers. the seahawks and cardinals became division rivals through the 2002 realignment, and dont share any geographical or organisational rivalry with St Louis or the Rams.

from a geographical perspective, a St Louis team in the NFL's NFC would be a better suited in the East. the Cowboys couldve been sent to the West where they already have a historical rivalry with the 49ers, along with the long-standing Cardinals match-up, which has now been strengthened with the Dallas-Arizona connection. of course, the reasons for keeping the NFC intact are well-known. imo though, this has been to the detriment of the St Louis Rams.

football has always struggled in St Louis. the Cards football team did ****all there. it's historically a baseball town with the baseball Cards only 2nd to the Yankees in MLB, and #1 in the national league.

LA. this is where the Rams belong. sure, the rams themselves arent the most storied franchise, and many of its younger LA-based fans would be concentrated in the southern region of the metro area, but there is still a presence in the SoCal area........and the proposed site of a new football stadium in Diamond Bar is only a 20min (clear ) freeway drive from Anaheim, and 30min from downtown LA.

if that's a no goer, then i third the proposition of the BF Rams :thumbsu: we've got the experience in running a football team too. ;)

Re: Rams Up For Sale - Bye Bye St Louis?

If we bought the Rams, id have sven as Chief Financial officer, NOT woodson as GM engaging in trade talks (haha). Other positions within the organization would be open for discussion tho. Riggy could be the mascot perhaps?
That means I have to move. I thought I could always be the fat dude who stands on the sideline and calls plays. You know, what ever Andy Reid is called.

Or I could do what JaMarcus Russell does. I would surely be better at that than him.
