No idea where to put it, but I noticed something interesting with reference to the Richmond vs. Williamstown light failure.

According to Fox Sports, the lights went out with 4 minutes and 47 seconds left in the third quarter, due to an overheated globe.
Remember when the lights went out at Waverley in Round 10, 1996? The lights went out...with 4 minutes and 47 seconds left in the third quarter.

Somebody get the boys who do Numerology onto this one.

yep, top 4 all on 16 wins, 5th to 8th on 15 wins, incredible.

Not convinced about the method for separating teams on equal points and equal points difference though.

Panthers and Broncos both finished on 15W and +56 PD. Tiebreaker is the better defence aka P%.

Panthers = 517 / 461 = 112.15%
Broncos = 556 / 500 = 111.20%

Soccer used to separate teams the same way until they decided that a good offence is more attractive than a good defence. What is better for the game of soccer, a 4-3 win or a 1-0 win? I know which game I'd pay to see.

The Cleveland Browns are arguably the worst professional sports team in the world. Coming into the new season, they has lost their last 17 games and had only won twice in their last 35 starts. But the tide is turning. This has been the best start to a season for the Browns since 2007 when they beat the Chiefs 16-12 at home.

It's been 11 long years since the hapless Browns have not lost on the opening weekend, and this year, they must be feeling pretty good about their prospects because they did not lose on the weekend. They did not win but more importantly they did not lose. They tied 21-all at home to the Steelers.

2016: Steelers 11-5; Browns 1-15
2017: Steelers 13-3; Browns 0-16
2018: Steelers 0-1-0; Browns 0-1-0 :thumbsu:

If anyone is going to do it the Colliwobbles are. The whole day had that feel about it from moment banner broke. I thought, oh shit, the ghosts of the Colliwobble era are returning. This is a real omen. Even when they kicked first 5 goals I thought of 79 grand final and knew this has a funny feeling about it. For the record, as someone that watched the 79 grand final live on tv, just like I watched this one, I never for a moment thought the ball was over the line when Harmes whacked it back to Sheldon before it rolled over the line. No streamers blocked any view. Our tv screen is a two dimensional projection of a three dimensional football moment. Easy to work out when aware of at time. A lot of people do not think of how it really is three dimensions. But it always amused me since that Pies fans imagine it did, and why ruin the fun of them tormenting themselves. That just adds to the fun of that grand final. Even Harmesy plays it up to let them think it was over but knows it was still in. I love that about him. Almost annoyed he revealed truth in his driving with Sam Pang video but most Pies fans will not see it so still fun they will believe otherwise.
 
Norm Smith Medallist for winning side was a priority pick for Eagles.
Priority picks now look gone. Might be slowly seeing the end of the priority pick era lifting so many teams into grand finals in last couple of decades.

I tipped Eagles thinking the marking duo up forward of Darling and Kennedy would be too much for Pies unless they got really brave and finally took Darcy Moore out of cotton wool and find out if he could play the full four quarters. Or even Ben Reid. I thought if he sticks with Goldsack, Goldsack will try but be ultimately too small or not mobile enough to contain Kennedy enough. From early in week my gut feel was Buckley would not have the kahunas to change the line-up and it could well cost him. Robert Walls went against grain to play David Rhys-Jones on Dermy in 87 grand final. Was brave and paid off. I thought this was a similar moment for Buckley to get brave and finally play Darcy Moore and back him to do much better job on Kennedy than smaller Goldsack. I would have admired Buckley if he took the gamble but he did not. Played it safe with same team.
It was beautiful to see the fear of taking the risk on Darcy Moore got it's just desserts imo. That extra tall when Eagles were always going to have 2 or 3 of Kennedy, Darling, Vardy or Lycett in front half was needed. Guys like Howe and Langdon did all they could but needed more talls to assist. Just poor team selection with all those things in mind. I said on Carlton board I felt they lost it at team selection over a day ago.

Also poetic justice as ex-North player coached the opposition. North players used to give it to Buckley for years he would never play in a premiership. This Buckley would never win a flag feel was there for those of us following all these underlying stories within the overall grand final stories. So many times, close but no cigar. He could have been a three time Lion premiership player or 1990's North premiership player. Sliding doors moments in his football career in the league.
 
All jokes aside, Collingwood are a bloody good team and have achieved far more than I thought they could 12 months ago. I would not have been upset if they won, it was a great grand final, I wish they always were.

I'd just be happy for my side to finish 8th (without drugs). Maybe next year.
