With all the bullshit stupid moves Bevo has tried - it’s hilarious that Rory Lobb to defence is the one that’s a game changer for him.
He’s had plenty of success from positional changes - Matt Boyd to defence, Roughead to ruck, Picken to forward-mid, Crozier to defence, Naughton to forward, Daniel to defence, Dale to defence, Richards to midfield and (so far looking ok) Lobb to defence. 3 of those were AA in their new role.

People will just remember the bad experiments like Wood to forward or Hannan to defence.

Its not a game changer. Its nice to see Lobb playing well back there, but he is one guy.

Bev has been stubbornly resistant to change over the last 3 years, playing the team like its 2016 while other teams play more ballistic, dynamic football around us. Its been very frustrating, and he was almost booted after the second end of season 'wtf are you doing??!!!' review in as many years.

I you want to look only at positional changes, the fact that Daniel and Macrae are OUT is much more signficant than Lobb being shifted back.

But positional changes are only a small thing really, its the fast, direct gameplan aimed at getting the ball into our F50 before the rest of the opposition team makes their way back there that has transformed our offensive play, and moving from a ponderous zone press that was increasingly easy for teams to go thru or over to a largely man on man style that has transformed our defence. Those changes require entire team buy-in and drilling to bed down and develop trust that the next guy in the chain is running hard to do his bit, and it seems we've finally got there this season.

Which is great, but I will still wonder what might have been if Bev has got his shit together 24 months ago instead of over this last offseason.

Im not sure that is true. The criticism comes from giving some players 5x as many games as their performances deserve, for reasons nobody can discern. Then delisting them.

There are multiple instances in this thread of people talking about him playing guys out of position including the post I quoted. Criticism comes from both, some of it fair, much of it unfair.

Kane Cornes has been awfully quiet since the Dogs have been in the 8...
Who cares about Kane?

Beveridge is a bad coach and nothing has changed. Perpetual enigma, forever inconsistent. They're having a decent run of form but this is nothing new in the constant up and down cycle. Just when everyone thought the dogs were hot sh*t and a serious chance at the flag they get thrashed by Adelaide a week & a half ago, ending their top 4 hopes.

With the amount of talent they've brought in through nextgen academy, father/son picks and savvy first round selections, consistency is the bare minimum you'd expect, but they've never had it under Beveridge and never will.

I do not think this season is the season where Sydney fans can talk about bad losses.
We are going to finish top of the ladder. Top 4 for the seventh time in twelve years.

How many times has Bevo finished top 4? How many years has he managed to win a single final since he was appointed?

Who cares about top 4 when you’ve had almost the same finals record as us since 2016. Same amount of grand final appearances, plus a couple nice bottom 4 finishes to go with it.

Beveridge's fate could depend on the result of the first final (probably) against Hawthorn. If they get smacked around the park by the Hawks and are out of the finals first up, i reckon Bevo might be a goner!

Given 24 of the past 25 flags have been won from finishing in a top 4 position, it's fair to say a lot of people might care about it.

Salty much? he has same amount flags as Longmire & Swans have made more GF's.

Interesting. When was this one exception and who was their coach?
So you think because the Bulldogs did it once that invalidates all the criticism towards Beveridge for his lack of consistency and inability to finish top 4?

Curiously he was close to replicating it in 2021, only for the team to fade out badly in the second half. Almost like all the traveling took it's toll. Maybe you wouldn't have been absolutely slaughtered and smashed by Melbourne in the Grand Final if your team didn't do the Beveridge in the final three rounds of the season and choke up a top 4 spot.

What was your excuse for Geelong embarrassing you then?

Such a vivid memory for a supporter of neither team in the 2021 grand final team. 2016 really burned.
