Obviously, there are people smarter and more knowledgeable than us in the footy industry making these decisions but it makes for an interesting conversation as the board seems to be pretty split on this topic, keep in mind that he is no guarantee to request a trade yet either.

He's an undoubted talent. Like most things in life, all depends on the price. Two firsts and close to seven figures a year in readies is making me nervous.
Yes. I agree with you. If we are having to clear the decks with Acres, Logue and Tucker to find the cap space I feel like we will be a weaker team overall.

I think if Luke Jackson was in this years draft we would take him with our first pick should he last to that late, he didn't before when we held two top ten picks and would have taken him then too.

There is always going to be clubs better placed to offer huge deals to out of contract players, a club at the end of next season could put over a million a year in front of Caleb Serong and he would have to take it. The Jackson deal will at that time be linked to losing Serong but the only constant really is that opposition clubs have almost 20x combined the salary cap of Fremantle so they can all offer one of our players obscene money they have to take and we can't match them all.

Losing our role players, which is what Acres and Logue are currently playing, to bring in a potential match winner is fine.

If Acres played the whole last game like he did in the first quarter we lose the game. His hard work getting back to support saved scores, going a long way to winning the game. I maintain that Blake Acres plays a role of effort that asks a contest of him on occasion and kicks mostly for distance. He isn't biting off the sort of kicks into the corridor like Young or Mundy.. or Serong, which lead to a goal against.

I'd like to keep Blake but I think that's a role we can lump on someone else.

Voted no based on the reported price we will have to pay. I feel it's fated to be a classic Freo trading blunder.

since Walls has been running things, how many trading and drafting blunders have we made would you say?

as opposed to the old boss, now running things at Carlton and Liam Stocker being delisted

ha they’re beyond help
I reckon I can ease Joao’s mind if Lobb stays and we spend the rest of our draft capital after trading out players on forwards.

I’m worried Mike actually orders a hit on Jackson before he can request a trade…

Would those who don’t want him at all be more comfortable if we kept Lobb as well?
I don't think we can play Tabs, Lobb, Jackson and Amiss. If Lobb stays, Jackson can't come because Amiss needs to play. I know Tabs will probably miss half the season but I want Jye in for 18+games.

If the counter argument is he is going to be a midfielder then I am wondering what we are doing with Ras and Johnson.

One or the other I think.

If we're paying this years first (13-18) and next years first (likely in the same range) then it's a steal IMO, he's a unique talent. It it were two 1sts in the top 10 it would be a different story.

Salary is the big one, I don't want to offer him the world and risk losing important players

Or Taberner doesn’t play and Jackson rotates off the bench.

Yes, Tabs is the odd one out in that list and I’d be playing Amiss ahead of him because the forwardline would work better. The main concern losing Lobb and getting Jackson is the capital spent on Jackson when we are relying on Tabs to be fit which is looking unlikely at this stage.

What if we weren’t relying on Tabs to stay fit…

I am hoping that Treacy starts to put pressure on for a game next year too. He's been a bit beat up this year but has at least as much natural talent as Tabs, probably more.
