But just as an aside I'm not sure how long The Klaxon has being going for but for the first time ever I've actually donated to a news site.

Only found out about it due to Luke's appendage, but interesting stories on their front page on The National anti-corruption commission and its failings and 'community' groups funded by big business opposing off-shore wind farms in Australia.

Do need some independent media in Australia.
Crikey has dropped off IMO and you the have crackpots (although always worth a read/laugh) such as the 'kangarrocourtofaustralia'.

Only a matter of time before the owner of The Klaxon is sued for defamation,on the basis that a Murdoch/Rinehart et al can afford to run a case and basically use their dollars to shut down an independent publisher who simply will not have the money to run a defence, irrespective of the merits of a case.

Happy to give The Klaxon a few bob while they are still around.

I’m hopeful that’s just a rumour from one of Josh’s right wing media mates in Tom Elliot. Maybe Josh is following his tried and tested playbook

Don’t really want politicians from either side involved in my footy club, but Frydenberg would instantly piss off at least 50% of the member base
Fortunately Tom also declined the job after being contacted…

Been going a few years. It’s Anthony Klan, formerly of The Australian. Decided he actually wanted to be a journalist.

The Klaxon and Michael West News are generally the best ones.

Klan uncovered everything on Sayers, Fraudenberg and the Guide Dogs.

It’s ****ing tough going, surviving on small donations while everything you dare to report brings endless letters from armies of corporate lawyers.

Joe Aston is starting one called Rampart news, might be worth a look.

Could not agree more. Quite the eye-opener. The more you read about both the Sayers in these Klaxon articles...

Off topic, but how is it that Hayes resigned from the Guide Dogs charity immediately, but it's unclear when Cate resigned from the Inclusion foundation? That gov. grant histogram spike, coinciding with the Josh-is-great ads, when 'It is illegal for charities to endorse politicians or political parties'....

poly(tetrafluoroethylene) indeed.

I guess the difference is that Hayes was an employee and the last thing GDV would want is to be publicly associated with a scandal involving a political party/candidate.

I think 'resigned' might be a bit of a misnomer a well, as in jump before pushed.
The Chair of GDV just happened to resign at the same time.

Hayes and the Chair leave, with glowing references, and the Board of GDV hope the whole thing will just fade away.

Not sure that has occurred.
The Klaxon points out that in the 2 years prior to the endorsement GDV received donations from the public of ~$6mill pa.
In both the two years after the story broke donations fell to less than $5mill pa.

For a charity such as GDV to have their CEO (and publicly identifying herself as such) to endorse a political party/candidate just isn't very smart.

As for the Sayers it seems they founded and controlled the Inclusion Foundation and it just doesn't have the same profile as GDV and until now they have just gone under the radar and ridden out the turbulence.

I think there is a very good chance that the Foundation will be wound up in the not too distant future.
