Make or Break

I'd say it's make or break for anyone who didn't play at least one good-great final or who played at least one terrible final. Time for us to be looking at big game performers or are going to step in when it counts. This list includes:

* LeCras
* Lynch
* Nikoski
* Ebert
* Masten
* Adam Selwood

I've given the younger guys a bit more leeway. Of course anyone not in team is under the pump as there are 5-6 spots still begging for someone to deserve them

Yep I agree the excuse cupboard is well and truly dry for Chris.
I think we need to accept that Chris is what he is, he is a B grade AFL player who possibly in the right team could play for some time or he could end up an expensive State league recruit for the Eagles or other AFL clubs.

Not sure how many more tricks he has up his sleeve, he is contracted so I guess we will wait and see. But just a B grader in my view with little upside.

Would of had no impact on the result but Rosa should have played ahead of him on Sat
Every good team has hardworking B graders that play their role.

If he can work out his role better, he'll be far more useful. 2012 is not make or break for him, but he will be pushing it after that.

5th season for Masten but how many full pre seasons has he had?

MYSTERY
Every preseason he is quoted on BF as tearing up the track, but when underperforms its.... has not had a 'full' preseason.

Watch him to tear up the track 2012 preseason

I am happy to make the call.... he will NEVER live up to his No 3 pick title. At best should have been second or third round pick. Eagles got it wrong here.

Which of the next 4 would they have picked instead, had they passed on Masten?

Cale Morton, Jarrad Grant, David Myers or Rhys Palmer? The answer is probably Cale Morton, who was rated extremely highly in the 2007 draft. And I think Masten is pretty harshly treated on here

I think the priority for masten is not to tear up the track but to stay healthy. If anything I suspect he has gone too hard in the preseason which is why he ends up injured. They need to tone down his training and make sure they get 22 games out of him.

Actually thats a very good call. Never thought of it that way. Well done! :)

And continually destroys my dream team.
Don't pick him then.

I think we all forget sometimes what makes a TEAM. Sure you can have a team full of stars, but they often won't win the big one. Geelong, Collingwood aren't full of stars, but they work effectively together to produce results.

We have the list to produce results (maybe with one or two tweaks i.e. trades etc) but perhaps the players need a bit more time to gel together, remembering a lot of guys who have been asked to do a lot more than their experience would suggest are quite young. The older guys like Selwood, Embley, Nicoski have had their _best_ years.

They are not expected to kill every game, but are in the side to guide the younger blokes and add some experience into the mix. Do away with them and the balance of the side goes out of whack.

Let's not forget how young our side really is.

False, Masten needs to train the house down it gives us hope and something to talk about during preseason. And continually destroys my dream team.
True, the Masten trains the house down gave me lots of ROFLs last off season.:thumbsu:

Jordan Jones is making me nervous. I hope he gets a show last year.
Does anyone see him having a crack, and, who is he like/who could he replace?

I won't mention Masten, done to death.

I would more say the fringe guy's that have been on the list 2+ years but have only managed a handfull of games need to play in a decent run of games next year.
Stevens, Weedon, Stryjk, C Wilson(if he remains on the list), Brown, Stevenson, Jones and Neates.
All these guys are on the senior list and except for Brown are yet to really string games together so you would think they really need to push up into the best 30-odd to keep there spot.

Bzzzzt FAIL :D

Swift is the big one for me.

Unless he tidies up his kicking and ball handling then he may just be on the way out. I hope he gets a haircut too.

Mitch Brown. 40-odd games in 5 seasons. Very injury prone and of the times he's actually managed to get on the field, well...he's been a bit shit really.

Some will say he's vital due to Glass being in the twilight of his career, but if he can't produce a bit more next season then I think its time to cut our losses and look towards getting a kid in the Draft.

Ebert,Masten- Showed signs of growth this season, These two need to cement their spots in the 22.

Swift- Enough said, gets the ball and butchers it. DISPOSAL has to be worked on

Weedon- Time to make that step up in the forward line, needs to at least be contesting for a spot in the 22. Otherwise looks set to be the next tony notte

Stevens- So unfortunate we have Priddis in the team. This guy was banging on the door for selection and all he had was a sub vest :( I feel if he does not get an opportunity he will seek a trade :(:(

Strijk- All the skills to make it in the afl. Has to work on his fitness over the 4 quarters
