Police on Friday charged Samuel Vernon, 31, with murder, torture and kidnapping and are looking for others after the alleged assault at Richlands on Sunday evening.
The two friends of the man who died were also injured in a coordinated attack, with one suffering a broken leg and the other "fairly serious facial injuries", Detective Inspector Knight said.
"Their safety is a key concern for us. The surviving victims of this need to be treated very delicately," he said.
