Question is who would geelong take ?

Dean laidley ?

Sheeds to North for a BIG Gold coast push ?

(You can bet when the AFL move on the gold coast (with north or otherwise) thet sheedy will be the figurehead)

Why would he ever want to leave Geelong for Essendon?

Last season Geelong were going to sack him because the board didn't have faith or believe in his direction, supporters were calling for his axing as well. Now that the team is winning the board and its supporters have jumped on board like an Indian train! He lives in Essendon and he's a former premiership captain of the club. That's why he would leave Geelong for Essendon.

I think Damien Hardwick will get the job! :D

He's got it made at Geelong. Since the reforms over last summer, he gets to coach without worrying about the other nonsense, yet he maintains the same pay package.

Unless Essendon can match that, or better it, he won't leave.

But if he did, imagine the coaches queing up for the job at The Cattery? Who wouldn't want to coach that list?

I reckon if he wins the premiership on Saturday, he has earned his dues and probably morally can sign with Essendon with no ethical problems (esp as the club nearly tried to shaft him last year) but If the Cats lose, he'll stay and try go for redemption next year with Geelong.

I honestly think it wouldn't be a disaster for Geelong if Thompson left, there are plenty of other decent good young coaches out there.

I am a member of sportingbet and I came across that new bet regarding thompson.

I couldnt believe the odds really.

Surely there is no way in the world Thompson would leave.

Dont think Thompson would leave Geelong so I reckon I might have a bit of the $2.50 on offer.

More On Bomber Thomson.

I'm hearing rumours not only from this site, but from a variety of areas on Bomber, and his contract with the Cats.

That it isn't signed, sealed and delivered, and that Essendon haven't named a coach yet, is all common news. Word is, all party's are waiting for the Grand Final result.

If Bomber can't take this squad to a flag ( which has been building since before 2004 )......he wants to go home to Windy Hill.

My concerns are for the mindset of the playing group, entering a G.F. , with this cloud over them, how will they enter into the game ?

Interesting times ahead.

Re: More On Bomber Thomson.

and this is deserves a new thread why? You haven't said anything that hasn't been stated 100o times in the last month.
agree catman

just everyone let this thing go

watch the grand final and enjoy it

wait for an announcement from thompson

wait for essendon to announce a coach

then discuss the sh*t it out it!!

Re: More On Bomber Thomson.

Who will Mark Thompson coach in 2008
Essendon 1.50
Geelong 2.50
Linky.

I can't believe Essendon are odds ON!?

I feel it's more likely if Bomber wins the flag this year he will go to Essendon as he's achieved what he wanted to. If Geelong lose he will likely stay on with them to have another crack next year with a premiership ready team.

Essendon are not ready for a premiership at the moment and as such need some rebuild. Bombers not going to want to do that, again.

All that said, let's just watch the Grand Final first.

strong rumours that laidley is waiting for thompson to announce his move, then laidley will be first in the queue to coach the cats
thompson apparently still smarting over the reviw process after last season, the question is whether he actually signed any agreement with essondon while he was feeling pssed off back then

All due respect, but Essendon would double his package and not sneeze at it.

It will come down to what Bomber wants. If he wins a flag with Geelong I think he will move on. If he doesn't, I think he will stay to get that flag with a team capable next year whereas Essendon are likely not.

Gee a port fan attempting to put doubt in the Geelong fans mind.... Something different.

It's been done to death. Bomber is a man of his word and he clearly said at the start of the year, he is not going to talk about contracts until the year has ended.

The year ends on Saturday when we win the flag.
