Thought he may have been the 1 player in the team that could have curtailed Abletts influence on Saturday. Alas he wasn't given a crack. Maybe with another preseason or 2 under his belt he can evolve into that attacking run with mid we crave.

Ive mentioned this a few times.

Last season he was used in run with roles and it should be something the club continues to look into.

I think if Sinclair can continue to develop then that might free up Williams for other roles.

Ramsay was also drafted with a "small defender" role in mind you'd think. Shame he broke his wrist earlier in the season.

Yagmoor has shown improvement but there are still doubts he'll make the grade.

And of course we'll get Tooves back next season so options start to open up moving forward.

Love the kid.
No doubt I'm on my own here but I feel he's ahead of Tooves. I always used to find myself yelling at the tv when Tooves kicked the ball. He'd run to chb or wing, roost the ball 50mts but kick to absolutely no-one often resulting in the ball going back over his head.
Marleys shut down is just as good but with better foot skills and decision making.

Easy now.

He does so many things right but his kicking is erratic at best. Helicopters, mongrels, blazing even makes simple drop punts look incredibly tough under no pressure. Decision making in the process also leaves plenty to be desired.

I worry about him and the frequency at which he coughs the ball up by foot resulting in the opposition hurting us on the scoreboard.

There is a reason he hasn't been dropped since debut unlike Seedsman, Sinkers, Kennedy, Elliot and all the others.

That was the kid's 20th game tonight. Wait until he hits 80-100 - his kicking will sort itself out with experience.

For those of us who've missed the boat on this one, mind filling us in, lads?

Good_edit: nevermind, I employed the amazing power of google.
The kid was probably mouthing off because a kid that he went to school with made something of himself. Pure speculation but probably on the money.

Hi folks, first poster here and had a few bevies after the win so sorry iof I'm barging in. Thought Marley has been an absolute star over the last few weeks and agree with CTB: his kicking will sort itself out once he gains a bit of experiejnce and the composure that comes with it. An All -Australian defender and future gun mid-fielder in the making.

Welcome.
Could not agree more.
Williams has been good to very good every time he has donned the jumper.

The most amazing thing about him is he probably has one of the stronger core's in our team or maybe ever the AFL and he is still only what 20 years of age.

In a few years he will be a literally wrecking ball, impossible to knock him out of the contest.

Brilliant contested player, kicking is woeful though.

If he can improve his kicking or find a way to kick less and handball more then he could realistically become AA

Is his kicking that bad? He hit plenty lace out tonight. I think it's more his decision making. He blazes away a lot which is more the issue in my opinion.

Having said that, the kid is a beast. Unbelievably strong through the core!

Yes, he produces a lot of mongrels that go no where near his target, turned it over a few times against the eagles.

Was sensational last night the way he just busts through packs, tgey can't lay a hand on him. Only problem at the moment is his kicking but Toovey also had that problem early on so I think Marley will get that fixed! :thumbsu:

Can't help but think that Marley is the player Marty Clarke had the potential of becoming.

I do love our Irishman but I'm afraid as long as Marley is playing then we have no spot for him.

every
Marley reminds me more of an experienced Tooves than Shaw, not someone that has played what, 10 games now? Fantastic player.[/Everyone comparing him to Toovey and heata got Ben Johnson written all over him already breaking the lines can't wait till he consistently hit the scoreboard
