Genuinely giving thought to the idea of Pittonet becoming our preferred ruck this year...

Love Kreuzer, always will, but I'd love to see how our midfield goes with a big ruckman with a little more natural aggression.

It certainly would be a new experience for us to have a ruckman that could stay on the park. That continuity could benefit us at stoppages with set plays etc

We also saw him drill Eddie (with Eddie having a bloke right on his hammer), hit SOS after beating a couple on the wing and force Robinson into a diving spoil to stop him hitting Martin on the chest - unusual option for a bloke who doesn't trust himself to hit a target.

Tough job getting into the mind of a footy player through a TV screen.

So 3 times in 18 disposals?

Play on

Yep spot on Macca all you have to do is watch his highlights on the Carlton App to see how sweet some of his kicks where, was one of the real positives out of the game for me to see him really play to his strengths bursting away from a contest and actually having that confidence to hit those kicks, will have some great moments this year based on that.

Watch the way we moved the ball from defence into attack in the first half and you will realise it won't be the same old blues.

If we put someone like SPS or Willo on the end of some of those handball chains and we will trouble a lot of defences.
Your on fire today Macca, couldn’t agree more. 👍🏽

Murph passed to Eddie from 30 metres out directly in front. Does that make him low on confidence/a poor kick? Being a bit selective here I think.

On what basis do you call Newnes a ‘known hack? His two preseason games. His 150+ games for Stkilda (no doubt you watched every one of them)?

Extremely biased post Windhover. With no factual content.

yep was a crap post

Honestly I think Dow has been told his job is to win the ball, find space and look for a handball option first to release a Walsh or Fisher but if he finds open ground in front of him to put the foot down and take as much ground as possible.

If all have similar attributes in terms of influencing a game I’d go with durable . Fresh outlook perhaps . Imo .

Tbh gang, wouldn’t say we have a genuine elite kick at the club.

Best kick........poll worthy.
willow, sps, martin...........there's 3 for a................kick off............

Whoa - just scanned through the list, and when looking specifically for an elite kick it is not great reading.
As we all know, there certainly are guys who are elite at elements of the game - but kicking is not one of them.
Kind of an important skill really.
As mentioned elsewhere, Weiters is an excellent kick for a KPB, but wouldn’t class him as an elite field kick.
SPS is a very reliable kick, but we’ve seen that he struggles with accuracy 30m+. If we judge on criteria of <25m, he may be the closest we have to elite.
I’m a big believer in forming a gameplan around the resources you have, rather than forcing players to perfect a style they don’t have the skills to accomplish.
Hawthorn’s dominant team of the early-mid 2010s had
such skilful players they could play a possession game with supreme confidence.
If we think we can do that, we’re in for a world of pain.

Martin the best so far in 2020.

That switch kick inside was a beauty. Shame he'll be stripped of that ability soon, long down the line awaits.

My heart sank reading that Plow...
We should embrace the unique skills he has, rather than beating him into submission.
Sadly I think you’re correct with that prediction.

Jones and Weitering are both good penetrating kicks out of the back line (yes Jones butchered that switch but he's generally very reliable).

Can somebody PLEASE explain to me why Teague is continuing with Bolton's Kade Simpson kick-in comedy routine instead of tasking one of these two with kick-in duties? Especially when neither Weitering or Jones are ever used as marking targets for the kick-in?

Tell me when Dow supposed hit or almost he these targets, what qtr, what time?
Silvagni in the second leading to Beets gifting Gibbons a goal, Betts in the third where Betts handballed off to Newnes to miss the goal and Martin late in the last.
