Haha having playing against him this year I can hardly see him pulling anyone from this area. I have nothing against the bloke personally but having scene alot of him this year onfeild i cant see him having any impact what so ever. From his last game against Skipton when he went down swing and clocking blokes from behind I think everyone thought he must have been hanging up the boots. Pretty sure all he will bring with him is his 2 or 4 weeks suspension from his last game in LPFL :thumbsu:

which "scene" was that in :D

I know this is going back over old ground but what did people think of the GF being held on the Sunday this year? I was a bit sceptical when it was first announced but I must admit it seemed to go off pretty well (especially for Brook ha ha). The crowd appeared larger than recent GF's to my mind although it was great weather. I'm still a Saturday arvo traditionalist but if it increases the gate and the atmosphere which it seemed to do without having any figures to back it up, then I'm all for it now. Others thoughts?

I was a skeptic but I'm now a convert. Easily the biggest crowds (from standing in the outer anyway) we have had for a while and the atmosphere was great. I still think it belongs on Saturday unless there are compelling reasons to change it though.

Re: Maryborough Castlemaine District FL

and just another quick thing, I know it was a while ago, but Puma's bet about Stone, Pilgrim and McNamee all kicking 100 for the season? Does he understand the MCDFL that well? I know Dunolly are going to improve this season but it would be hard for McNamee to kick 100 goals when last year the team as a whole only kicked 154 goals.

If it happened that would be fantastic for the league, but as Stone and McNamee (once) are the only ones to do it out of the three in Seniors then I don't really think its that realistic. I'd put my money on the 250-1 odds of Dunolly making the finals before the 3 people kicking 100 in a seaon... coz the odds of what happened in 2006 with 4 people kicking it would be astronomical.

If Dunolly only improve to 200 goals this year,i still think j-mac will kick 100 goals, i rate him as a full forward. He is remarkable hungry and driven to achieve. I personally think Dunolly will improve a bit more than 50 goals this year thou.

I see Bushy are fishing in the Loddon Valley League, top marks Johnny!

good work puma! one of the girls were talking about him the other week as he is a family friend, i thought i'd find out what he was like!!

I heard the other day that Julian Field was coaching Avoca, True/False??
By playing against Ash Davidson for the last few years i reckon he'll help royal immensely, jus seeing his onfield leadership was enough but he seems like a nice enough bloke off the field aswell so hopefully he goes alrite in his new role!
Bellenger is still contracted to coach in 09, Julian Field has indicated he only wants to play and not coach. Heard a whisper last night that Shane "Meggsie" Field may be returning with Julian to the Kennel

So Julian Field is a definate to play??? Will be a big plus for the league. My mail says Megs will not be returning this year at this stage. Shame as Avoca could really use a focal point up forward.

Is Brook losing many??? There was word at the end of last season that a few would head back to Clunes. Eg, Chipper etc.

has the big fella still been over at Ararat this year??

big megs is still up stawell way and by all reports is staying put after finishing of the season pretty well. I think he'll continue to play major league football while he's looking so fit. There is probably a good chance he wants to get out of julian's shadow and more interested in casting a shadow of his own.

so any news out of the clubs not mentioned as much on here yet? has newstead signed anyone of note? if so, i think a mix of youth and experience will be good for them.

we've been busy at bushy the last week or so having talks with a few players. have 2 new blokes signed from ballarat. one full forward @ 6ft6 which is something we've struggled with since Stew Egan left, and also a young goal sneak from the horsmam district. kicked 80+ goals last year, so hopefully can get some more goals next year!!

By all reports Newstead have signed 3 Senior Castlemaine players and are speaking to another, are talking to an onballer from Melbourne and a couple of other players that are friends of existing guys... not sure what they are like. Looking as though the majority of last years list will remain also.

Newstead really improved during this season too. I would expect them to feature heavily in September in 2009. A good thing is that the bottom teams are getting pen to paper early in Newstead, Dunolly and Bushy. They've all got a long way to go but it's the start they need.

Exactly right JD, this time last year we didnt have a committee, let alone a coach. So we are really 3 months ahead of last year. Trust me, its a good feeling after the start of this year

so who have newstead signed?
how did they go in castlemaines B&F?

As it stands they have signed Mark Ramsay, Lachie Ford, Liam Bright and have all but signed Scott Timmins from Castlemaine. Mark, Lachie and Scott were all top 5 or 6 in the B&F, and Liam was in and out of the seniors.

There are also a few other names being floated but not signed as yet.

Who have Creek picked up??

i doubt creek would sign any star players they would just be players that would struggle 2 get a game in a carisbrook 2's side. noble trying his luck over in adelaide with a sanfl club
