A few below the belt remarks getting thrown around here gents.

Having played higher and lower levels of footy my only suggestion is play where you're going to enjoy it as that's where you will play your best footy. As for the club's if a player decides to play with you all good and well but if not don't get too emotional about it.

Well said Egor.

Unfortunately the Maryborough FNC they have a habit of taking things too far when someone leaves. If they didn't do this they might have a better chance of enhancing their reputation and getting some players back down the track.

Personally i'm sick of hearing about these guys leaving the MFNC and how thats the ends of their careers and its a decision they will live to regret. Get over it!

I have no problem whatsoever with what you're saying, Egor. Maybe there's an assumption I'm from MFNC - again you guys jumping to conclusions about how they react. I do know people from there, and in all honesty I don't believe they took Hind's decision too far by any stretch. It would be grossly negligent of any club not to do what they can to keep a valued member, after all he would expect to feel wanted. What can you do though? I'm not sure what nasty stunts they are supposed to have pulled. They met with him, he explained it, and he's gone.

My standpoint is somewhere between both leagues, and I can't deny it is exciting when young talent is emerging at a local level. You want to see how far he goes. I know of one old timer who can't understand why AFL clubs haven't looked at Hind. There's always another level they can go to - BFL is not the be all and end all. But is the best footy available to him living where he does, unless he wants to tag along with the Bombers. His decision entirely, and I wish him the best.

So many stories around of players who "should have, could have". We tire of hearing them.

I'll ignore Snippers comments, I think.

"I know of one old timer who can't understand why AFL clubs haven't looked at Hind."

People need to stop making stupid comments like the one above. The last two young guys to leave Maryborough to play MCDFL have left with the tag that they could play AFL! I will tell you now without any disregard to Edwards and Hind as they are handy players but they have no chance of ever playing AFL or even VFL for that matter as its beyond them.

Hey, I did say it was one bloke's comment - in order to illustrate the level of regard in which he was held. Of course it gets said way too much and it annoys me also. He wasn't talking him up as if anyone with a bit of talent ought to be immediately considered AFL material. It was in the context of people like Michael Barlow, Justin Maddern, and of course Stewie Crameri being identified from outside the TAC arena. He played interleague for the BFL this year, and is recognised in Bendigo as a bit of a gun (believe me, that's a hard thing to do!).

If he's mentioned in that regard at all, it must mean he's got a few things going in his favour and it gets back to the initial point I made - that its a big call to walk away from some of the possibilities.

You are spot on when you say those two won't make it (did anyone think Edwards was ever a chance, by the way?), especially if they don't have the burning desire to get through all the club-level issues. It's often all or nothing with players around that age. If they think they're not going to make it to the ultimate level, their motivation drops away and they go back to playing socially. It's better than losing them to the game completely though.

You are obviously involved in Maryborough in some form so no point insulting everyones intelligence. Would you care to share the reasons why Jayden left then? Because if Fisher has told you or someone else why he hasnt left, then he has obviously told you why he has left.

Jayden reads big footy, doubt it will bother him. In fact, he is probably enjoying the attention! ;)

And just for the record Im not stirring. I personally think Jayden is/can be an exceptional footballer and Maryborough is the best spot for him right now. I can only go by what I hear from home and the results but it looked like he had really established himself in the senior line-up.

You would know the family I assume Troy. Would Jayden simply be looking to play some footy with young Nick who doesn't want to play with MFC?

If not for the likes of yourself, I would have said thought there was no intelligence to insult. (That will get them barking, just watch!)

No, not necessarily involved, just try to be in touch. Fisher communicates with a lot of people in the footballing community. Despite what you guys might think of him - which appears to be very little - he knows his footy, is passionate and ambitious, and can teach guys in the area a hell of a lot about playing the game.

He has taken Hind on his word that it was personal reasons, and that he just wasn't enjoying his footy. Jayden wanted to play with his younger brother, that is supposed to be the extent of it. Seems he took it as a kick in the guts when he didn't make the VCFL under 19 team a few weeks ago. That's being a bit hard on yourself, I would have thought. Worse things could happen.

But, of course, he could be just telling half the story. It might be something else he hasn't disclosed to those who tried to convince him otherwise. The only indication that there is any problem with Fisher is what "Bucks" said, and that's why I'm keen for him to elaborate. It's news to everyone concerned.

They both played there with the old man and they are a tight family so there is no reason to doubt his intentions. He's not the sort of kid to make a rash decision either, so Im sure he has thought long and hard about this. I know he did on his decision of where to play footy last year before settling on Maryborough, which was the right decision.

In saying that it would come into every footballers thinking that Rovers are challenging for a flag and Maryborough are not, but you cant begrudge him of that.

Lets be honest hubbalicious is the only winner out of all of this. The spotlight is now off his chest and with the week off to fuel up and hone in on his dance moves i think we're looking at a potential 18 votes in the Berry Powell medal from here on in.

Massive win yesterday by Maldon knocking over the undefeated Bulldogs! Can anyone who was there give us a bit of a run down on how they won (other than the obvious of kicking a bigger score)! This has set up a tasty match this weekend with Maldon and Newstead playing off for second spot on the ladder... The winner of that one will be pretty tough to knock from a top 3 spot i'd think!

Newstead will want to be a little quicker out of the blocks this week than they were against Creek though, who after loosing that one and with a dismal percentage can kiss finals goodbye now.

With the top 5 all but set now, the interest will be who finishes where with every game now super important as all 5 teams are a shot at the double chance.

WELL WELLL WELL is Hedger 4 goals between the 2 sides its gotta hurt the Dogs in the 2nd half of the year/finals, but i am sure they can still go all the way....maybe

I went and had a look at the game yesterday, Maldon play their gorund very well, moving the ball quickly with precision, won it through the ability to rotate their onballers reguarly.. not much between the sides as the final result would suggest (16 pts), talking to a few avoca people in the crowd and they were missing up to 9 senior players due to injury/unavailability with the majority of these (bar hedger of course!!) to come back into the side in the next 2-3 weeks so will be interesting matchup if the 2 sides meet again, but injury etc is no excuse if you want to win the big one... it now makes for an interesting round this week with maldon v newstead, avoca v rovers both huge games on the make up of the 5...

Bushy would be disappointed with the touch up they got from the Botters on the weekend! After the initial optimism in pre-season they are looking like going through without a win for the year which is a real shame.

I assumed you got along to the game Uncle Johnny? Thoughts?

Didn't make it Rich, had to work, but yes, very disappointing. Dunno what happened, it's worse than last year! We knew we had recruited that well, but enough to see a few more wins but I guess everyone else has done that and then some. Also, looking back, we may have recruited more 2's players than 1's players. On a plus, looks like the 2's will be playing finals for the first time in a long time.

I got along to watch Thermometer, Great effort from Maldon who used the ball well and had Dave Carroll up forward as a target. Avoca had a lot of guys out and played some kids plus a couple of guys that had played 2nds. Maldon won the game because they had a better forward structure and Avoca with Pilgrim up forward never looked dangerous, he went into the ruck late in the game and got a few more touches. Maybe thats were they will need to play him with the loss of Hedger.

I think both sides would have walked awy happy, Maldon with the win and Avoca were competative.
There will be 2 great games this weekend with Avoca playing Rovers and Newstead playing Maldon at Maldon.
Hopefully the Steaders will have Oxley, Kerr, Barker, Culvenor and Baker all back in. But they wont be able to start slowly like they did against creek otherwise Maldon will make them pay.

Is Oxley's continued absence injury related? If so, how many games can you realisitically expect him to play in a season and will he realistically be fit and firing for the finals? I know a half fit Oxley is still handy but you cant rely on his body holding together these days.

Whilst you didnt recruit any superstars, you did pick up a number of handy senior players in Perry, Baz Gorman etc. I think most of the league expected more from you blokes and perhaps as you say you have been a victim of the whole league improving along with you boys which has cost you a few cheap wins.

Talbot had a very young and inexperienced team in again and would be happy with a win of that margin. Obviously they have a couple of very good footballers at the top end and Im pleased to see them finishing of the year well after a very tough start to the season.

Well the Lexton Plains is finally finished as of this year. Ararat will go to the Mininera League and Natte and Navarre to MCDFL. With Navarre not happy as they want to get in to the Central Highlands but wont be able too. The rest of the clubs will go into the second division of a new 2 division Central Highlands League. Names for the new league has not been sorted as yet. But the big problem is that there will be no central admin and finals rotation but the leagues will be run in the Jurrasic style of delegates running the Leagues and the finals not sorted until a week b4 the finals. tHe winner of the flag at div 2 will have the option to move up to div one and will have to move up if htey win the flag 2 years in a row. Great idea.Oh well things may change. This was brought up as an idea in 2004 when Avoca put in for a transfer to your league.
How strong will Navarre be in your league??????

None of this is set in stone and is only speculation still at this stage. Natte would come in if they needed to though. Not sure on Navarre. The size of the MCDFNL would become a problem unless we lost a side.

Sorry KR but it is a done deal with Trentham going into the Central Highlands Second Division and Natte and Navarregoing into the MCDFL. The report and paperwork will be going back to all of the clubs and will be ratified at special meetings of all of the affected leagues and set in motion by the end of this month.
