I unfortunately couoldn't make it to today's game between Brook & Harcourt. Looks like it was close throughout. Hoping for one of those magnificent match reports from big footy's Clark Kent.
How did the match pan out Bluey?
I only saw the second half due to work and it was a one point ball game at the main break. In a quick summary, Carisbrook took the upper hand in the 3rd quarter with Ross in good touch up forward and big Hairy moving to the right spots so that Brook could go through him on several occassions to set up attack. The redbacks led by three goals at the last change. Harcourt were still in the game throughout the last quarter and went into attack consistently , however the Carisbrook defence was simply outstanding throughout the second half that I saw. Led by Tim "the toolman" Heenan who again dominated over Stone they marked, tackled and repelled everything that came their way in a great backline display. A late long goal to McMurtrie kept things interesting but the siren beat the Courter's and Brook hung on to run out 7 point winners and book themselves a spot in the grand final and another week's rest.

How did Chris Bell and Joseph Pezzelato end up going this year??? Also who's everyone's tip for the league b and f??? i'll say Adrian Pilgrim from Avoca

Belly was great this year. He missed 6 or 7 games with work but Dunolly were a much better team with him in it and will be hoping he sticks around for 2009.

Top 3 vote getters from Dunolly will be Matt Brady, Craig Burn and Brendon Burch.

They should still win the senior flag but I dont think they can match Talbot in the reserves. Talbot comprehensively outplayed them. They are prob still the team to beat in the under 17s and got the fright they needed. I dont think anyone wants to see them win all three anyway!

The loss of Jackson Bowen will hurt Brooks chances in U/17s.

If Sean Smith is any chance to play should Harcourt get through to the Grand Final, then I would find it hard to bet either way. They were missing another avenue to goal on the weekend as Stone was well held by Heenan.

With the reserves in mind I think Talbots few handy inclusions have brought them into Flag Favourites with there dominating display on Satdy. The to beating Talbot in the twos is jumping them at the start and making them play catch up footy. If the Botters are still close enough near the end they usually find a way.:thumbsu:

Talbot were able to include Kevin Martin, Gav Hyde and Brandon McRedmond from the seniors. Kev and Gav were reasonably quiet but Brandon certainly made a difference up forward. With Brook ones through and Brook twos not expected to get much stronger Talbot deserve to start favourites. I expect twos to bounce back and get into the decider against Talbot.

In the seniors it will be a very interesting game. Harcourt need Sean Smith in their side as their X-Factor. Maldon will also have to be aware of Matt Giri as his pace and line-breaking ability really gives Harcourt something. Few Harcourt boys, including Browne-Kerr are carrying injuries from what I can tell and I'm not sure they can push through to another grand final. Maldon for me.

yer my self i dont want them to win all three. yer with the out of jackson bowen i reckon rovers will have there match.
In the 2s the senior inclusions for talbot should help them win i think.
in the seniors i reckon it will be harcourt and brook. it should be another close game considering the big outs for both teams.

cheers

my tips for this week....
i'm hoping for Harcourt to win in the seniors, but this game can go either way. i think Harcourt By 2 goals
Carisbrook to bounce back in the 2's to beat harcourt by 8 goals
And Carisbrook juniors to beat avoca by 5 goals

Maldon have won through to the Grand Final to play Carisbrook. Prob the grand final everyone wanted to see. Maldon should have got rid of their finals nerves now and will be ready to serve it up to the Brook.

Brook through in the reserves to have another crack at Talbot.

Agreed that 1 v 2 is a good result for the Grand Final. I'll own up to say that I tipped Harcourt to go all the way again this year. Maldon controlled most of yesterday's PF and deserved their win. Harcourt for mine had too many of their players playing the man instead of the ball. For example when Heenan kicked 2 in a row in the 2nd, instead of just tightening up on him and trying to win their own ball some of the Courter's tried to unsettle him. This IMO actually hurt Harcourt because some of them took their eye off the prize. Again in the last Harcourt came out and in typical fashion they fought back with 4 in a row to get whithin 11 pts I think. Brown then kicked the steadier and instead of fighting back the Courter's again went physical and got 3 players sent off at once. Obviously it was all over red rover from there. It was a pretty good game to watch in gusty conditions but it was a markedly different performance from Harcourt compared to their first final against the Dons where they handed out a lesson in keeping yor eyes on the ball and putting on maximum pressure around the ball.

Carisbrook v Maldon GF

Both wear Red & Black. Does either wear white shorts or anything alternative because I'm guessing it will be hard to split them.

Maldon will have to wear white shorts you would think as Carisbrook finished above them. Personally I would still find it tough to differentiate in close under pressure with both sides having red and black. Maybe that's just me ha ha. Seriously though it seems a blatant jumper clash. Maybe some players from either side could let us know if there has been any problems in the past with this issue.

Maldon wear white shorts at every away game as far as I can recall and they will be wearing white shorts for the Grand final.

As for the league B&F tonight..... Talbot's main vote getters will be between Ian Martin, Tim Bright, Matt Smith & Matt Bond.
